Previous for Sale on BaT back in 2020: No Reserve: Euro 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300TD
Hey all - Figured I would throw this ad out here before listing it elsewhere (marketplace/BaT/etc). Although I’ve enjoyed my time with this wagon, due to a job loss I am trying to thin down my fleet. This wagon was bought last June and I've put ~6,000km on the vehicle. Current mileage is at 370,0XX and will likely go up a bit as I drive it around town / use it on nice days. It has been a great road trip vehicle and I love to drive it around town.
Overall, this wagon has been taken care of quite well for its lifespan. The previous owner had parked it outside since 2020, so there was some moss / sap that needed to be cleared off the paint - but it looks fantastic. It is a low option car and that is where the charm has been for me versus the high option 500e / 400e that I own. No Sunroof! Cloth Seats. Power windows up front, wind up windows in the back. No rear facing seat. No Cruise. No ASR. Simple car with a simple OM603 N/A motor up front. A/C works great + it has the euro dual zone climate system.
This wagon was imported from the Netherlands back in 2017 as noted on BaT, I have those import papers in my possession along with an Indiana title. As we all likely know, there is no point in trying to get this registered in California - but the other 49 states should be fine. To the emissions note, I still have all the factory emissions devices on the motor.
Since my ownership, I worked on a few different systems to make sure things were running as needed / expected. Plan was to continue to own and drive this car for years, so Mercedes OE parts were used when possible + I replaced things ‘while I was in there’ as normal. This can be seen with the 150amp NOS alternator put in, and going through the whole cooling system to make sure it functioned as needed.
In preparation for sale, I’ve gone through a deep clean of the interior + giving the outside a full paint correction. Looks better by far then the day I got it and more mirrors the BaT condition.
Below is a general list of the items I took care of:
Left turn signal is quick, but bulbs are good - Haven’t diagnosed this one beyond trying to swap bulbs
Manual seats take a bit of work to move - When I initially purchased the car the seat was fully stuck in one position. I took the seat out of the car, cleaned and lubricated the rails, but it still isn’t perfect like I’d want it to be.
Vibration from 60-75mph in rear suspension area - Thought this was the driveshaft bushings/ center support bearing so I swapped those out, but the vibration is still there. It is more minor in nature, but figured it should be mentioned.
B-Pillar fabric needs re-glued - Was on the list to-do
Here is my maintenance document for this car: 300TD Maintenance
Here is an unedited / modified photo folder for this car: 1992 300TD
Happy to answer any questions you have on the car here or via email.
I’ll also be listing up my 92 400E later this week or next.
