Hi Everyone- I am reluctantly listing both my Mercedes for sale as I need to get a large wagon for my new business. My 6 speed C36 is going live on Cars and Bids today. I wanted to post the W124 here first in the hopes that I could deal with a more civilized buyer.
Here is a photo album of the C36 swapped Sportline 300E. It is basically my personal holy grail W124 car (sorry to the V8 crowd). The car has relatively low miles at about 134,000 and has the sportline package. Through a lot of maneuvering, I was able to get the freshly built 3.6 engine and transmission home to me in CT from Orlando, FL a few years ago prior to pandemic. The person I bought it from was a retired Mercedes mechanic and built it himself. The transmission rear cover was swapped for a W124 style to use the speedo cable. The trans shifts better than any 722.3 I have driven.
The sportline is stock aside from the rear heckeblende panel (still have the original) and the CLK wheels. David Hendy has been through the car and did the drivetrain swap. The paint on the car is probably a 5/10. I have wet sanded the paint and it looks better for a day after polishing and then goes back to being so-so right after. This is the second 3.6 swapped car that I have owned. Fresh suspension work and brakes. I can give far more detail on the specifics of the work done.
Looking for 15K or b/o. I would consider selling the drivetrain alone to someone for real money as the original engine/trans is at Dave's.
