36k-Mile 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E
This 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E was registered in California, Florida, and South Carolina before it was acquired by the current owner in 2024, and it now shows 36k miles. Powered by a 5.0-liter M119 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic over black leather upholstery. It has 16″ eight-hole alloy wheels, a power sunroof, fog lights, Automatic Slip Control, automatic climate control, a Becker cassette stereo, heated power-adjustable front seats, and cruise control. This W124 500E is now offered on dealer consignment with owner’s manuals, service records dating back to the late 1990s, a car cover, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a South Carolina title.
The 500E was assembled by Porsche and featured wheel arch flares, revised bodywork, and a lower ride height when compared to other W124 models. This example is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) and features satin-finished lower cladding. Additional exterior features include headlights with washers and wipers, integrated fog lights, a retractable antenna, and a power sunroof. Paintless dent repairs were performed on the right-rear door and right-front fender by Canepa of Scotts Valley, California, between 2017 and 2019, and assorted trim pieces and clips were replaced at that time. A Stage 1 paint correction was performed in May 2023.
The 16″ eight-hole alloy wheels are mounted with 225/55 Michelin Premier A/S tires that were installed in November 2021. The car is equipped with Automatic Slip Control (ASR). Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs. One of the rear hub flanges was replaced along with a rear wheel bearings in 2019.
The cabin features heated power-adjustable front seats upholstered in black leather with perforated inserts along with a color-coordinated lower dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include automatic climate control, a Becker cassette stereo, a power-adjustable steering column, dual front airbags, and cruise control. The air conditioning evaporator and expansion valve were replaced in 2019 [FIVE GRAND at the dealership!], and the wood center console trim was repaired and refurbished in November 2021.
A four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 36k miles, approximately 700 of which were added under current ownership. The instrument cluster was removed and cleaned in November 2021.
The 5.0-liter M119 DOHC V8 was factory rated at 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Photos of service records since the late 1990s are viewable in the gallery below. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
The selling dealer tells us that Wurth Stoneguard undercoating was applied, and that the middle and rear exhaust hangers were replaced before the current owner’s acquisition. The transmission pan gasket was replaced along with the transmission fluid hoses in 2022.
Owner’s manuals, a tool roll, a car cover, and Mercedes literature are included in the sale. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage.
