FRESH INVENTORY!!! This is a very unique opportunity to buy one of the lowest price 500E sedans around. This is a 2 owner car which recently came out of the local collection of a MB enthusiast. He bought this car from the original elderly owners many years back with around 60k miles. This was his daily driver for many years as he managed an Audi dealership out here. It was always well serviced in his service department and we have just completed a huge service as it had been in storage for the last 3-4 years. Entire front of engine compartment is new from water-pump forward. New fuel pumps and fuel filters were installed. The custom AMG Monobloc style wheels were restored and wrapped in Michelin Pilot tires. Original wheels are still available. Car runs good, sounds great and has never seen collision or salt damage. Looks like a nice car at a reasonable price. I wish the replica AMG white wheels matched the Polar White paint. Driver’s bolster looks to be in great shape. Engine bay is clean an has new coolant tank.

I’m sure there must be some deferred maintenance since it sat for a few years.

I say if you like white get a PPI and go for it.

Being a pre-facelift, the correct color for this car should be Arctic White. Also, the lowers were most likely Alto Gray, but re-painted to match the body.

Hopefully the duck tail is stuck on there with double sided tape. IMO the fitment is poor and the stripes down the flanks interact awkwardly with it.

Yes, and the pinstripe along with the black bumpers really create a very "busy" image.

I found a few (apparently) decent indy Merc shops in the Phoenix area when I was looking at a car earlier this year. PPI shouldn't be a terribly difficult proposition.

Bummer about the duck tail mis-fit, replica wheels, and the wrong headlights (Euro 500E lights/lenses are NLA). And those taillights gotta go. The gap between front bumper, grille, and headlight trim panels is wonky but that may be an adjustment issue. Shame it didn't get the proper Euro headlight wipers, but that's a straightforward fix if desired.

100+ photos including over a dozen of oil change records, and not a single picture of the underside?

Still, the price is reasonable, if it otherwise checks out.

I think the trunk is the problem more than the tail. And yes, the same stripe applied to make the side panels appear straighter than perhaps they are, had the unintended effect of showing how straight the decklid / tail aren’t. But hey, still a decent example.

You just have to do your homework to figure out why the trunk sits funny at the passenger side rear window junction. Something about this whole picture just isn’t sitting for me — the way the trunk isn’t flush and the top of the wheel seems caved in. Maybe an optical illusion, maybe not. But I think that’s WHY the tail isn’t working.

Yes, I'll add the jeweled tail lights too. The car looks too busy. All things that could be removed and leave a good looking car in a rare color.

Despite some mods I wouldn't have done, I find this car appealing. If it ends up with a forum member, I hope to see before-and-after photos as it's nursed back towards a more original presentation.

Somebody needs to dress up like Sonny Crockett and show up to the next Radwood with this one...... blasting Phil Collins. Or I can see this car as something Tubbs is driving, hauling ass, saving Crockett's bacon (once again) in a deal that's gone south.

The car can be on sale for so long for several reasons. Firstly, it’s E500, but not 500E. Secondly, he was in an accident - the hood is very crookedly installed - this can be seen by the gaps. And it is not very clear what surprises can be expected under the duck tail. Perhaps there was a blow from behind?

Carfax doesn’t mention any accidents.

Hood installation could just be an alignment issue.

I have an entry in my personal database for this car, from June 2006, when the car was located in St. Petersburg, FL and had 54,000 miles on it. It was listed on eBay.

My personal comments:

BIN $25,000. Dealer selling this car for "a prominent Tampa family." Supposedly an open-checkbook car with no flaws nor issues whatsoever.

The paint issue looks like the car has had a respray and was improperly prepped vs. clearcoat failure to the original paint which makes for quite a problem.
