WANTED 1993 500e fuel level sending unit

Have you done the HOW-TO for removing and cleaning the sender? Not difficult and all of the information is here on the forum.

This is an NLA part, new.

Gerry is right. You will probably never find a NOS sending unit.

The gauge jumping around can be cured by cleaning the sending unit. First try a healthy dose of a good injector cleaner, Techron or Red Line SI-1. Run through a full tank of fuel and see if there's any improvement. If not, remove the sending unit (with the tank near empty), have it disassembled and cleaned. That should fix the jumpy gauge needle.

Thanks. Thought I did see a new unit on MB parts site?
Regardless will go with the Techron treatment to see if that helps.
Appreciate the feedback.

Nope, the sending unit for the E500E is only used on 90L tanks with V8 engines, and it went NLA many years ago. Last one I saw for sale was a used unit 4 years ago (details here). Used ones likely will require disassembly/cleaning, same as the one currently in your tank.

Read the bottle label carefully and make sure you are using enough for the 24-gallon tank capacity. 2 bottles may be needed for the large tank. Let us know how it works out!
