94 E500 fuel pump relay location

Hello all,

I seem to have an issue with my fuel pumps, the car cranks but does not start. I cannot hear the fuel pumps priming with ignition on so this seems to be related to my issue. From reading the issue could be the fuel pumps, fuel pump relay or the LH module. I wanted to start with the relay first. No clicking from relay when cranking (but as below I cannot locate the relay itself).

It's a 1994 E500 LTD, after much research online it seems like the fuel pump relay should be under the passenger rear seat. I cannot see it immediately, did MB relocate this for the 94 cars or the LTD? Or does something need to be removed to view it

I found a relay in the engine bay with a 30A fuse but I think it might be aftermarket.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ditto what Gerry said. Passenger side under rear seat cushion. In your photos, there appears to be a black rectangular module that may be covering it up. I'm not sure what that module is for but it isn't present on USA-spec cars.

I guess you mean the box in the second pic. It's acceletion sensor of ASR which appeared with updated ASR and brakes.

Ah, that's what I thought, but have never seen one in real life. Definitely a bummer MB didn't provide that upgrade to USA or Japan spec 036's.

:3gears:

I hadn't seen one of these before either but spotted one in a late w124 estate (wagon) for parts. I snagged the late type IR lock pump from it but must go back and get that black relay box too

Were you able to get an ETA with the small round connector, too ? :stickpoke: :teufel: :noevil:

Be happy without high end ASR. If that box stop working it will cause error code #14 of ASR and swich on ASR warning light. The quite simple box from Bosch with some IC and mechical pendulum cost about 1500 - 1800 € some years ago. Just guess how do I know...

Yes! In a sea of MB engines.... they had about 80 engines ready for export in a yard so I climbed over them to find that E320 Estate's motor.

Is the estate (wagon) tandem pump useful to get too?

Green ice cube relay under the passenger rear seat. It will have a fuse embedded in the top of the relay. Remove fuse and check it.
My relay does not have an embedded fuse.

Please help me explain which holes I need to jump the wires with to force start the fuel pump

Appreciate all the help.

Apologies in advance if I double posted. Couldn’t find a relevant post.

It does have a 30A fuse, but it's internal and not replaceable. (Might be a circuit breaker? I'm not sure.) Note the "30A" rating on the relay.

See attached schematic.
