Can a 75cm antenna mast be used in place of 100cm mast? '94 E500

I have a bent mast from (someone) driving under the four post lift with the radio on... :whistling2:
Current mast is 100cm. I see that there are 75cm masts available. Can the shorter mast be substituted without any issues?
Or will the tail disengage from the gear when raising and possibly not re-engage and lower?

Anybody tried this?

Thanks in advance.

Various (non MB) parts databases say that the 75cm mast is correct. I am going to try an inexpensive 75cm one to see if it works.
Also, my 100cm measurement of existing antenna is at full "manual" extension when removed from the motor unit. Maybe it doesn't extend fully in operation.
I will let you know...
