Does anyone know where to get a 38 in connector for a launch scanner the scanner says it covers that year but the website to purchase it is is difficult.

I don't know anything about the Launch scanner, sorry. The Launch is not a common unit, I don't recall any forum member having one. It won't have full functionality compared to the Mercedes SDS scanner, which is really what you need for full capabilities on any 1990's Mercedes. Just keep in mind if you do get the Launch adapter you may only have access to the ECU, TCU, and maybe another couple of systems... not all of them.

:mushroom:

Most of the inexpensive 38-pin to OBD2 adapters only will communicate with one computer, the engine control unit (ECU). There are allegedly some adapters for specific scanners that have multiplex capabilities but still won't do as much as the Star SDS.

The launch X431 has had many integrations, each will have their own connectors. I would try to find out what model you have and contact Launch directly. You'll likely have to buy the complete accessory kit which has a bunch of OBD1 connectors for various brands. If the model is supported.

This 'might' be it

Thank you very much I appreciate the input after posting this I did quite a bit of research and found nothing but headaches I purchased it because it functioned on all makes and models but specifically for my car that has the dreaded ASR problem and I was hoping to pin it down if it was a wheel speed sensor or something easy I'm not trying to play R&R till I find it but it is kind of finicky it has a unique Behavior I've not encountered anywhere in all the threads similarities but no 100% match my speedometer bounces when it starts acting up and sometimes when I'm at a slow crawl in the ASR light is off the break has a little stutter in between light presses of the break but also my speedometer bounces intermittently and will hold the speed I lightly accelerate but then if I accelerate a little too hard the hazard light flashes and then it bucks a little bit and then I give it a little more gas then it go past it and accelerate hard but during these times between 2000 and 2500 it vibrates in an odd peculiar manner a certain rolling drone but other times it drives like a scalded ape usually whenever it's cold and not fully warmed up I know this is long and I could probably break it up into several different things but I'm new to the group I've enjoyed reading a lot of your threads thank you

I purchased the 129 x creador professional I tried contacting launch with no response over two weeks ago and when I went to the website to buy the 38 pin to 16 pin connector I got nothing but a run around and literally couldn't make the purchase Wanted only PayPal which I do not use I consider purchasing the connector above but like you said I wanted to make sure it worked with my specific unit

FWIW... the 1997 E420 speedometer is driven by the left (driver side) front wheel speed sensor. Assuming your instrument cluster / speedometer is good, I'd check/clean the sensor at the left front wheel to start with.

Are front & rear tires the same diameter? Different diameters front/rear can cause some weird issues with ASR.

Thank you for putting me in the right direction I will check that The tires are brand new all the same dimensions When I got the car it had multiple different tire sizes They are AMG 17 wheels that had 235 is on there I have 225 on it now the problem was happening to the previous owner when I got the car when does Speedo words it keeps accurate speedometer readings so I'm assuming that the car doesn't need to be programmed at this for the tire size difference cuz it originally had 235 despair is 215 so to recap all the tires are the same

If you have an ASR / ABS light go off. It's usually the brake switch on those cars. I'm not sure about launch, but I have owned a couple of Autel scanners (DS708 and MS908). They both came with 38 pin connectors. The autel website will provide coverage info for each of their scanners that will tell you exactly what systems can be access for which cars.

Thank you for everyone's help I have a quick question after clean the wheel speed sensor on the driver side I then started the car they ASR light was still on but I noticed that while it was in part just sitting there the speedometer would jump to 15 mile an hour down to five then back up to 10 then down to 0 and bounces intermittently between 0 mile an hour to 10 fluctuating in no particular variable
