Active Fuel Leak

Looks like the high pressure hose exiting the filter has failed. Replace with OE/Genuine only. Those pumps look old too... I'd seriously consider replacing the pumps, filter, and high pressure hose all at the same time.

Thanks, Dave. The pump(s) and filter are less than 40,000 miles old. I changed these upon owning the car immediately.

Ah! In that case, you can just replace the hose. The pumps should be fine at 40k. You could replace the filter at the same time if you want but it's not really necessary. Everything looked older in the video but it wasn't a good close-up view, ooops. The hose is definitely much older based on the corrosion visible on the hard pipe U-section.

I had an interesting observation with my fuel pumps which were original. First time I have ever seen a Bosch pump leak between the pump body and the aluminum can that encapsulates the pump. There is a rubber O-ring seal at the crimp or business end that started leaking During the winter. My theory is I had switched to non ethanol premium and the lack of ethanol in the fuel might have caused the seal to shrink back. Either way new pumps were in order. In the past I never changed a Bosch roller cell pump unless they started to get noisy or failed from storage.

I had this EXACT same failure on TWO different cars within the past year... and, I also switched to using non-ethanol premium since it became available again locally in early 2022. Both failures were on older/original pumps, not newer ones. So far, cars with newer pumps haven't sprung a leak at the big O-ring near the canister crimp.

Sounds like non-ethanol gas might be the root cause of this particular leak...
