Advice needed - Part A1192301156

When I tookmy car out of winter sleep earlier last month, I did have unecpected oil-leakage under the car. Searching for the cause it seems that the suction tube A1192301156 is having a leak at its connection points.

Considering the part is NLA what are your advice:
1. Should I check to get a salvage one
2. Have someone rebuild it

Further, any advice on exchanging / installing it? Do I have to drain the engine oil first? How to avoid a big mess?

Thx for any support and advice. Stefan

Are you 1000% certain the AC hose is leaking? There is not much oil inside the AC system. Also, if the AC system is not in use, refrigerant oil WILL NOT leak from this hose.

Usually, oil drips onto the outer surfaces of this hose from the engine, often from the power steering system. First step would be to fully degrease everything, then drive the car and determine the oil source. My money is on a P/S leak.

Tip: After degreasing, wrap clean paper towels around the hose/pipe and secure with wire. Test drive. If the leak is external you will find oil on the outside of the paper towel diaper, and the hose inside will remain dry. If the hose is leaking, you'll find the opposite.

That looks to me like power steering fluid, indeed. Check your short-hose between the reservoir and tandem pump, as a starting point, and the "S" hose secondarily.

Thx to both of you.

This was my assumption at first as well. After all it is a common failure point I have experienced among the 036. But the oil feels more solid and has a more brownish color than the steering oil. And the level seems to be stable.

But I'll getting an 036 dipper. Love the advise and thought.
