After 20 years...

Funny story from this morning.

I took my 500E for a spin around Westwood area in West LA. While waiting for the green light at an intersection I noticed that next to me was a brand new black topless SL63 AMG. After taking a peek with great discretion, I saw the driver waiving at me, giving me the thumbs up and yelling " that's a very nice ride there"...

After 20 years, still a head turner

Hello Gerry,

Yes, I know... my bad for not having a post on the OWNER thread already.

I haven't worked much on my 500E lately and I don't have plans on any major changes to it. My preference at this time is to keep it stock and to make sure it is in perfect mechanical condition. Still, I am enjoying swapping different wheel & tires sets and front blinkers for different looks. I enjoy playing around with reversible cosmetic changes.

Promise I will start a thread soon.

I was in Germany last week, when fuelling in a autobahn restingplace near Stralsund i´ll got a comment from two men in a black Mercedes estate, giggling " thats a very nice car " , after performing this on the
the highway passing a police car...

You can not be sure to run full out if the Police thinks you are a menice to the trafic, you have to be aware of the
people around you and behave responsibly.

So so, we have a mission to fullfill, that much attention in....Deutchland! Well, I guess there are a few people remembering times when the Autobahn's were crowded with the 036es, sadly not so anymore as the numbers are fewer and fewer.

Sadly you don't get that attention here in Sweden, people don't know or doesn't want to show there admiration or is it just plain jeallousy? What a sound, a 747 taking off (had the laptop on amplifier 4way) just too short fotage. Thank you Totte. R

Just a comment about the attention in Sweden. Over the past 2-3 years I've seen several 036s on Blocket.se, http://www.blocket.se/hela_sverige/bilar/ to a very low price. Two of them has been imported to my town BTW, but sold out again. They were not in so good shape, I guess that reflect the price level.
