WANTED Ambient temperature dash display for 1993 500 e.

These appear NLA new, but had been ~$550 from discount dealers. There's a NOS one on eBay for $900! :LOL: :lolol:

As Gerry said, these pop up on eBay for more reasonable amounts, just make sure the seller confirms it has been tested and guaranteed good.

I may have one available, but need to do minor archaeological dig in my shop to unearth it...

@MK500,
You might want to check your connections. Mine did not work for a long time but it suddenly started working again. I have no idea why.

I would suspect the front bumper connection since I have never removed my instrument cluster.

Been through it all back to the dash.
It reads correctly, goes blank, reads 20 degrees lower. Stays at that temp. Traced everything back. Have pulled the dash so feel pretty confident it’s the digital part.
That being said any insights are appreciated!

Yep, your temp module is borked if it is reading a clean 20 degrees off. You just need a new module. Sorry that I don't have any more available, but 124s in the wrecking yards have completely dried up. I used to have a steady stream of them just a few years ago. I have a LOT of 126 modules, though, and also ONE temp module for an early 124 (1986/1987).

Then again, if nothing ever shows up I’ll just keep my math skills up by adding 20 degrees to the reading! Things could be worse!
It is lots of information on various repairs on these units;

Besides from a failing temp.sensor in the front bumper - the LCD display reading can fail, LCD display separation, solderings on the circuit board goes bad over time, and some electronic bits on the circuit board are aging out. All of these may not occure at the same time, but the good thing is that all of it is fixable and it appears not that complicated either. I think I have 3-4 of these to be checked out/repaired at some point.
