B pillar trim fasteners and clips

In a process of refurbishing my headliner I removed the B pillar covers. They needed only minor repairs, most of the vinyl was still where it is supposed to be. The problem I have is to put it back properly. My trim panel has only top clip and 2 long plastic parts that attach between door frame and trim (A1249888878 as per below pic) I also found 2 loose clips #A1249883378 but have no idea where they suppose to attach? I found this picture on internet:

I don't have the long metal clips on top ...9378 and the two directly below ...5578. Where it all goes? Does anybody have a picture of all clips attached?

I did my B Pillars a bit ago and I'm pretty sure A1249883378 are clipped into the metalwork, where the it seams together, and there should be a small slot for them. Hard to explain, but if you follow the seam from top to bottom you will see the slots.

I do highly recommend that you re-glue the edges of the vinyl of the b-pillar even if they look OK now, as you probably don't want to undue everything again. After 25 years the glue is done, and whatever is left of the padding is, too. There's a good number of write ups on this site, but essentially its glue and binder clips.

The metal clips (...378) are placed in two locations on the sides of the B pillar cover over the vinyl. If you look at your pillars you'll see where these were as they have "teeth" that will bite into the vinyl. The other side clips over the weldments. They're covered by the fuzzy trim (windlace) that presses over the weldments so you don't have to worry about them showing.

I buy new clips and replace the originals whenever I do these, as I figure after 30-35 years they're tired. Cheap to do and gives some peace of mind that they'll stay in place.

Gents thank you for your replies. I did re-glued the edges as these were the only places that the vinyl started to separate from the pillar. Re the clips - for the life of me I cannot find the place where they belong. I tried dozen different combinations and no luck. I know they should catch the weldment on one side and pillar on the other but it doesn't wont to work... Dan I looked at your owner's thread when I did my headliner replacement, great source of information BTW - thank you, there was a picture of pillar trim with clips attached. I believe that these were 5578, not 3378... I have 4 on my shopping list but still don't know what to do with 378... Also the long, flat ones 9378, anybody has any idea?
This is really embarrassing, there were more difficult jobs that went flawless... :banghead:

Dan did you have a chance to take a photo? Not rushing you, just wondering...
Dang it, I got caught up. I'm sorry. :( I'll get out there late this afternoon and get some pictures. Thanks for the reminder.

Dan

@darek_u, have you ever figured it out? I'm in a similar situation. I have all of the new clips, but can't quite put my finger on it...

No, I postponed it for a time being. I just enjoy driving the car... This coming winter I'll be pulling out seats and cleaning carpets, its a perfect time to do the pillar trims as they will come out anyway.

This is what I've figured out definitively thus far:

1249888878. There are 2 tabs on each side of the B-pillar (circled in red). 1249888878 just clicks on to them neatly. Good idea to buy new, as all of mine have one of the two latches broken off. It will still hold on even with one latch though

1246900498. There were two spots of old adhesive (circled in red). New 1246900498 goes right over the a pimple between those two spots:

As far as 1249883378 and 0089885578. I can't figure it out. It's as if they are not needed at all... If I place them like in the 2nd picture, they appear to fit fine and, so to speak, keep the B pillar where it should be (though it doesn't seem necessary), but the windlace/fuzzy trim bulges (3rd pic) over the upper clip. Doesn't matter which of the two clips I place there. Obviously that is not correct .

Anyone who has done their B pillars, could please chime in on these two types of clips and their positioning?
