Hello all,,

have not been active on the forum for a while,,, was going to buy me another W124036,, have missed my ex 500E ((ME 945 drift picture)) so much that i was going to buy a car this spring but the seller refused at last minute........,, i am still crying

but if someone likes BMW ,, here is a rare engine swap story,, IMO

ok lets start..

,,,

It started when i bought me a 750,, with sportseats and LSD+ changed the diff to 3.45 ((from 3.15)) had wokke chips and the car was a rocket,,, as an E32 750,, if you get the point
really quick if we talk 750 language....... i was so impressed with the M70,, and the E32 that i got pissed to myself not having bought a 750 before,, but after having 3-5-7 at the same time i sold the 750,,,, with no regret,, i miss the car but so what

2.jpg

After i melted 2 pistons in my S38B38 when i was doing CAI experiment ((engine was running ALPHA-N)) with catastrophic results i

decided to sell the S38B38 after complete rebuild....... lots of detail if you folks are interested alpina.123.is : S38B38 Engine rebuild | 31.08.2013

i had bought another 91" 750 with a fellow and me and my buddy split the car,, i got the V12 M70B50 drivetrain etc ,, he parted the car

I wanted the engine to be as good as possible,, i am a fan of V12 ,, Bmw and thats it

so i took the engine apart aaaaaaaand, let the show begin...

but before restoration i took the crank,,bearing tray/holder and camshafts + all that stuff to minimize the weight when ,, installing for engine mounts fabrication

totally overhauled alternator ,
new waterpump,,+ 2 set of pulleys +wheel
all gaskets,,VICTOR REINZ or OEM..

All bolts/nuts new.. except crank rod+ camshaft

not like brandnew,,,,,,,,,

no way back.......

new bearings,, main + conrod

just an useless info Conrod bearings are ONLY by BMW and cost a fortune

Sv.H-Motorsport solution,, made by Max Lumens
this is a genius solution if/possible replacement for oem intake gaskets,, you use the oem,, but these are 3mm thick precise cut out of silicone and goes to head and under intake manifold((oem cost the same as a week holiday on a beach))

/// stripes is mine/stolen idea ,,,,,, the chrome stripes are mine idea,, this is all foil

The engine will be running on MegaSquirt standalone .. and mated to S6S 560G that i bought in UK ,, the gearbox came out of a wrecked 850 CSI.. i had the engine installed with the 4HP24.. but as i have the gearbox now,, i will change the transmission mounts

Throttlebodies ????? i took the electric motor off and made them manual

SACHS,,, V12,,,,,,,,,, über über every BMW clutch i have seen so far
39.jpg

Sachs x 2 most likely the 2 titans in each class of its own
B10 BT clutch is the stiffest 240mm i have tried so far vs other 240mm but is made for DualMass flywheel ((Sachs 765 press is also heavy strong and stiff but made for Singlemass))
and then Sachs 280mm V12 clutch made for BMW,,,,,,, pretty much not the same size
the 240mm clutch bearing is almost a joke compared to the V12 280mm :

Anyone seeing a pattern here? Anyone? Bueller?

In the four decades that I have spent around these cars I have never seen any car inspire sellers regret like the 500E/E500. None, Blutarsky, zero point zero.

I've heard people say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I'm saying "if you ain't broke, don't sell it!".

For the record... Mercedes M119 and M120 were also Alusil blocks.

:pc1:

How come 850/850Csi had too many bad reviews regarding Alusil blocks?

I don't know my BMW engine numbers, but I do remember that was the first series of V8's. And they may not even know about that issue across the pond because it was the high sulfur gasoline here in there USA that ate those cylinder walls up.
Also like so many nightmare problems of legend, I don't think there was a single original owner that had to pay to have that fixed if he had any decent maintenance records from a specialist indie or dealer.

Yet another member who just gets in there and gets it done. Carry on Alpina, carry on. We will be needing video of the first firing, first burnout, etc.!

Rgds,

Thanks for posting. I'm sure plenty of folks here have an affinity for the e30, and fine craftsmanship is alway a welcome sight.

Beautiful swap!

How is your other E30 project coming along?

Cheers,

Raikku(vantaam5)

Hello Raikku.. nice to see a m5board member here
well as said,, my S38B38 got rebuilt,, and sold to Australia.. my friend Þórður ((Thordur)) is rebuilding his M3 RNGTOY total reconstruction on body etc etc etc and doing a S85 swap,,, a hell of a car,,, his twin supercharged M5 is running great..

my Biturbo is taking it easy in a garage.. have to replace the cylinder head,,,

how is S62 tuning going in Finland ??

regards

Few board members here.

Me and my 036 moved to the UK recently.

Got a garage bit north of London now doing BMW M cars and Porsches.
And 036s of course!

What happened to the biturbo head? Cracked between the exhaust valves?

Well,,,,,,,, the exhaust is finally done....... at a hefty price ouich

it was narrow but my man did it well,,, stainless all the way from oem manifold to the end.....
from manifold,, 2 x 42.4mm tubes and bends were used ,, and then in to 63.5mm

4 flange 8mm 316ss were made,, an X-PIPE and just 1 rear muffler + lots of bending and many meters of pipes

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tight... right side of the car.. some mods because of the engine mounts

also on the right side,, developed..or designed in that way the starter can be taken out
