Hi guys,

My 94 e500 is in need for an outside repaint and replacement of the left rear quarter panel, the battery tray, and possibly, but not for sure the rocker panels. I would like to be done well and all parts that need replacing along the way to be replaced with new ones as availability allows. I am in CT and I am having very hard time finding someone who knows the cars and is willing to put the time and effort to do it as well as it should be done. I would appreciate direct recommendations about people/shops that will take on the project and do it properly. I prefer a place closer to me, but at this point I am frustrated enough to consider going anywhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Ivan

Ivan I agree with you it's tuff to find a good body shop in our area, that's willing to do this kinda work. The main issue is they have so much insurance work and the cars are in and out in two to seven days that they don't like touching these bigger projects. I have shop in mind I can forward to you but they are not cheap and do excellent work. Do you have a overall budget for this project? PM me if your interested in the info.

If you are willing to take the car to Baltimore I know a great shop that has done two all-over mercedes paint jobs for me. One of the cars he painted in 2008 and it still looks fantastic and the other was in 2010, and it still looks new. He uses Sikkens paint. He has replaced my E500 bumper and repaired the old one for me, so he has at least seen the cars. He also welded portions of a new quarter panel (rust from a clogged drain in the wheel well) on my 300CE and you'd never know. He also took apart the trashed, I mean in pieces, body kit from my Brabus and restored it so it looks brand new.

And, he's pretty reasonable. I think anyway. He took in my 300CE which came on a flatbed in a disassembled state (I had to sue another body shop to get the car back after 20 months) and put the whole thing together perfectly. Like most shops, he does primarily insurance work, but he takes on 4 or 5 all-over paint jobs each year. I've been raving about this place to Meiman for a few years.

I thought you were going with the Porsche guys over at Automobile Associates in Canton ?

How about Dragone in B-port? There are a ton of high-end restorers down in your area. You could bring it to F40 Motorsports too (Wayne Carrini of Chasing Classic Cars) which is like an hour away from you.

The Canton guys were not interested. I'll check with the other places too. Thanks Jimbo!
