I managed to blow the passenger side turn signal light cover off

Easiest way to eliminate pesky water spots after a wash is with my Stihl BR600. Never had a problem with this process until today.

As I look at pictures of other 1994 E500s, I see they all seem to have amber covers while mine are clear. I've attached two pics. Pay no attention to the fact there some amber tones in the photo of the cover showing mfg markings, that's my Mac background showing through. Note no tabs.IMG_6492.JPG

If there were ever tabs they are long gone. Is mine an OEM item?

The gasket holding this in is shot: torn, disintegrated and sticking to itself.

What are my options?

Thanks,

Reach your hand around the fender to find a single 1 inch wide tab, just underneath the bulb holder, on the back of the light to squeeze and it will pop out. I have not heard anyone mention these lights are not still available. they used to run about $80.00 each. Not sure if you can purchase clear outside of aftermarket, which you don't want. Your E500 came with clear and orange divided corners.

The good news is your car will look much better with new vs. the grungy old ones.

If you are unfortunate to inherit a 500 that has at some point been fitted with non OEM side lens, they can blow out at speeds in excess of 120 mph (and likely put a dent in the front fender en route out!)! Don't ask me how I know!

The rubber gasket surrounding the cover is wrecked. What are the chances these stay on absent the gasket? 200 MPH tape did not hold the cover on at ~90 MPH on my drive down to the Cape earlier this weekend.

To paraphrase the song: “I can’t drive 65.”

Thank you so much for the part number, just ordered from mbpartscenter for $94.31 + shipping.

Tempted to buy&try the $22 versions from Amazon but decided instead to “cry once” as my Mom taught me.

When installing, make sure you hear+feel the assembly "click" into place. Try pulling it back out, it should not move at all, then you know it's in there properly. Also keep an eye on the two flat tabs that slide into slots on the main headlamp, sometimes the headlight screws are too long and interfere with the tabs fully inserting - modify as needed to get the turn signal 100% seated where it belongs.

Smart move. The cheap ones do not have reputation for longevity.

D'OH. The NLA item is the right side for USA 94/95, part clear, part orange.

You can still get a matching pair of OE all-clear turn signals, these are still available. Links below for OE clears made by Hella, About $175/pair plus S&H:

I already ordered by the time I read this but thank you very much - if the Amazons don’t work I’ll opt for this option.

Check out the kwality of the Amazons when they arrive. You may not be impressed...

I replaced my OEM corners w/ Hella Clears the I bought from Speed-Autotiel in Germany. At the time they cost me around $120.00 shipped.
I think I have Hella as well, pictured in my avatar. Don't recall what I paid. I had a set of Depo before that, blew off while I was driving to see Klink one year, actually. First time he saw the car and with one indicator missing.

Now you guys are making me think a spare set isn't a bad idea, though I still have the original ambers which were in fine shape when I took them off the car.

All seemed okay until I turned on the right turn signal while my lights were on. Turn signal light flickered on and off at a very impressive rate.

Went to bed and nightmared about possibly unsolvable wiring problems. Woke up and started swapping components between old and new fixtures and isolated it to a bad bulb. Old bulb in, new fixture re-installed, next step highway speed test.
