Cover/water drain sealing below windshield?

Hi,

I'm looking for information about these cover/drains below windshield. (P/N A1246202567, A1246202767) There is a connection point marked in red circle and wondered that should there be some sort of sealing to prevent water leaking to engine bay? All W124 what I have seen there has been some kind of gung or sealant applied aftermarket maybe due to age or just prevent water leak to engine bay.

So does anybody know what was the original solution from the factory? Were there any seals or not?



PS What is the part number for those small screws (4 pcs) where #14 would be mounted to central partition panel below wiper?

I am pretty sure there is no seal at this location. It's a fairly tight fit and water is under zero pressure, so water is unlikely to leak through this joint if the plastic clip is in place holding the 2 plastic pieces together tightly. There are drains below this area so any water which does enter, will drain out below the car.

jnes, Dave is correct, there is no seal at the juncture of these 2 water drains. The outer piece fits on top of the inner piece where there is a small hole in which a post on the underside of the outer drain fits into. There is a small plastic clip #35 in your screen shot that secures the small post. Often times this clip is missing. The overlap is maybe an inch or two.
