Complete repaint/value

Wanted to get the groups opinion on complete repaint and value. I'm sure this topic has been discussed so forgive me on the repetitive question. I've owned my '94 since 2015 with currently 65,xxx on the ODO. The car has had some panels painted previous to my acquisition including the lowers however I am now at a point where I am contemplating a full quality repaint to make it somewhat aesthetically perfect. The rockers are showing some paint crazing and front bumper has some rock chips. Color match is not right on left rear quarter and I am not happy with the orange peel on the trunk from previous paintwork. I can go ahead and correct the previous painted panels (quality/finish not up to my standard) and be done but I am considering a full repaint in factory 744 and am curious how it will affect value if any. I don't plan on parting with the car anytime soon and it is not my daily. It won't be a mask and spray; it will be completely de-trimmed. Thanks in advance.

Based on the quality (or lack of quality) of the panels refinished by PO’s. And your cars low-ish miles, a high quality repaint would easily, IMO, be covered by increased value of your car. You have EVO wheels, front license plate delete panel, correct headlights as well. Go for it.

Others can chime in on how extensive you want to go on prep - front/rear glass out, etc..

I would go for it. Assuming a quality finish, I don't think you would see any negative impact on the value of your car or any car really. I have a car that is original rare paint but lots of rock chips on the front to the point it just looks bad. I initially thought I'd rather keep it original than paint it but after talking about this with a few high end shops they all had a common belief that as long as it looks better repainted than original but in different shades then it is a good thing. There are probably very few cars out there that originality is absolutely key.

You mentioned you're not happy with some of the previous work so why not just make the car look good to your liking. If you decide to sell it one day then you can take some photos today to show to potential buyers that there wasn't really much of a concern to begin with but rather it was purely to make the car look better/consistent.

If you repaint it, I’d make sure to have extensive photo documentation of the car’s condition BEFORE you have it repainted and then document the repaint step by step, so it’s clearly documented that you didn’t put lipstick on a rust bucket pig.

I’d also suggest you find a shop that works with the OEM paint (Glasurit).
