I just had the accordion-like wood for the center console box refinished for my E500. Before I reinstall it, is there a way to lubricate or otherwise prepare the box so that the wood will open and close as easily as possible?

I think you could use some dry graphite spray lubricant. It you don't have that readily available, you probably sacrifice the lead in a standard pencil and crush that into a fine powder.

Where do you get dry graphite spray lubricant?

Doesn't the gleitpaste adhere to any dust or other stuff?

I suppose it does but it doesn't run in the South Texas heat, and there is just enough put on the back curve of the track to quietly roll it. Kind of like the seat track.
