Hi there.

Im sure your pros here with V8s might alreaddy know this but let me show my finds.

The first production of the 500E came with the Ekspansion tank from the 190D 2.5 Turbo models.
The part number were 201 500 05 49 this ekspansion resourar had the problem with the V8 that it gurgled some times as itsomehow couldt ekspand as quickly as needed for a V8
So later on they made a new type with number 124 500 15 49 as this now were only made for 124 V8 it got a 124 number insted of the old 201 number.
They are 100% the same form and type seen from the outside, but theres one difrence witch also makes sense when trying to understand the huge price diference compared to other ekspansion tanks.
Inside theres a fiter or gurgle eliminator teabag with some splash elimination particles/balls inside.
Theres only 140 pc. left new in germany of these and they have not been made anymore since 2009 so when odering a new one like i did. the production date says 09 on it.
And im not sure how long 140 units will last hence why i ordered one. my old 500E still has its original 201 model installed but is yellowish and gurgles. :)

The item inside the expansion reservoir/tank is not to reduce or eliminate gurgling. That is a silica pack which extends the life of the antifreeze/coolant, and helps protect against corrosion. See note below from a different engine, the silica pack is present on the M119 reservoir also, with the same function.

The vent line is to help prevent air pockets.

Great info. 🙂 I can't remember were I saw the info about the gurgling.
But it's great info. Thanx alot.
But I dident knew they just used a 190E 2.5 turbo diesel item for the 500 I wonder why they dident just used the ordinary type. Space seams to be ok even though the air tubing is close to it.
