Daylight running lights, dash interior lights not working

I recently tried to upgrade the lights on my 1995 e420's instrument cluster to LED lights. During the process, I noticed that the socket for the battery light was different and independent from the others. Sadly, the socket disintegrated, but I didn't think much of it at the time.

After reassembling everything, I found that my daylight running lights and interior lights for the instrumentation panel were not working. I spent three frustrating days trying to figure out the problem before taking my car to a mechanic.

The mechanic spent about 5 hours on the car and determined that the brake light bulb assembly in the instrument panel was the root of the issue ($500 later). However, they were unable to locate the battery dash light assembly to fix the problem, apparently it was only in the 94/95 models.

I thought I could fix the issue myself, so I modified a w123 light socket and connected the blue wire from the original battery dash light (see attached) . Unfortunately, this did not work. To add to my troubles, I also noticed that the ASR and ABS lights were on. I suspect that this may be caused by a loose connection from a recent front coil spring change, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thoughts? I did check fuses and they are all good and I have no burnt out headlights.

Is this the battery light you are referring to?

If so, the Canadian-spec cluster must be different... there is no wire to this bulb on USA clusters, and it's a different / larger holder as well:

Yes same battery light. But it's an independent wire on my cluster.
