E500 3 pin antenna switch

Hii All i want to add an antenna switch for my E500 from 94. I want to be able to control the antenna ( position , full up ,full down ) and was trying different wiring with no luck. can somebody please help with a nice wiring disgram?

Help is appreciated.

I don't believe this can be done without also replacing the 1994 antenna with a 1990 or older antenna. The older antennas designed to work with the console switch have an extra wire input, later antennas (on cars without the Antenna switch from the factory) do not have this extra input.

Use the factory schematics in the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual:

https://www.500eboard.co/forums/misc/Manuals/Servicev3.2/W124/Index/Groups/24ElectTrbleShting.htm

See printed page 131/x (PDF pages 89-97).

EDIT: When I said "this can't be done"... I meant you can't have the factory function of the early antennas where you can manually move the mast up/down to a specific position. As noted below in post #10, it is possible to have the antenna forced fully up, fully down, or in automatic mode; with the Antenna switch added to a late style antenna.

I did that on my E420, but only used the ANT button for either up automatically with the HU, or down/off. I just tapped into the wire from the HU to the antenna, thus adding a switch to the lead. It was only on/off, but did what I needed, to keep the antenna down since I so rarely listen to the radio anyway.

This is something I have been half-heartedly looking into as well (ok maybe quarter-heartedly) ....

Note that the 400E/500E antenna has a cellular telephone connection on the antenna.
I have noted on my car that the cellular phone can raise/lower the antenna even if the radio is OFF.
I don't know what the Grey wire does....

The Gray cell phone trigger wire raises the antenna part way, I think so only the Black portion of the mast is showing.

@Alioking - which switch are you trying to use? Are you trying to use 124-820-16-10? I am not sure if it is possible to use a 5 position switch for the 124.034/036 given what @gsxr says .... I mean, there seems to be no way to incrementally control the up/down of the antenna .... only full up or down (or cell phone black mast up)

@doolar - may I ask what you did? Did you graft the cover for 124-820-16-10 onto the switch body of 124-820-98-10 and interrupt pin 1 of the antenna with the switch? Note that on sound system equipped cars, interrupting the antenna control lead of A2/3 TUNER/AMPLIFIER might be too invasive because that lead also tells the amplifiers to turn on...

I believe you would need to interrupt either +12 power, or ground, at the antenna connector terminals 2+3.

With power & ground available to the antenna, it either goes to full extension when it receives a signal at terminal 1, or goes to full retract when the signal is lost.

IIRC I just routed the +12v via the switch. I also wired the button to button lighting, but that's of course not required.

I used the ANT switch, I just used it as-is. One position is on, the other(s) off, or the other way around, I don't remember to be honest. Not the most elegant solution I've ever done, but it worked just fine.

Antenna Switch is easy --

Pin1: Light - Grey/Blue on all Switches
Pin2: Signalwire from Radio to Antenna, unplug from Radio to this Pin.
Pin3: New Signalwire from Radio to Switch
Pin4: Batterie Plus (30) if you want to use everytime, or Ign+ if not
Pin5: Ground

Switch Up: Antenna Out evertime
Middel: Antenna in Auto Mode
Down: Antenna in everytime
