E500 LTD interior colour options

Can anyone please advise what colour options were available on the limited versions of these cars. I am aware of grey, green and red but were there any other colour choices such as blue?

Also is anyone aware of limited versions which did not have the colour on the gear shift and the steering wheel.

I dig the green ones myself, none of those interiors age gracefully though.

The only 3 Limited colours are code 286/287/288 (Red/Green/Grey), the grey ones do fade to a particularly nasty shade of purple over time in the right conditions.

Gray, red and green were the only choices officially available for E500 Limited upholstery and door card leather.

I believe it would have been possible for a buyer to spec "non-color" leather or even cloth for their car at that time (i.e. straight black, gray or mushroom parchment leather) via special order. I haven't explicitly looked in the data, but it's actually probable that some folks did this. It would just be a matter of cross-referencing the Limited code with the code for the non-Limited upholstery color codes.

Cheers,
Gerry

IMHO most of the LTD interiors are fugly. Grey and red are okay depending on the exterior color. I prefer solid black with any color, but that's just me.

Hello Sir,

I have noticed several times that you don't like the Limited interior, and I fully accept your preference. But you obviously enjoy to inform the public about that, and that's in fact not so interesting reading. Try to imagine that there is different taste & preference among people, so it is not necessary to piss on it like that!!

Hello,

The Limited leather came in the three colors you mentioned. The equipment code numbers is shown in the table below. The tint do vary a bit, and the fading developes different from car to car. But in new condition can the grey leather appear more over to a blue-ish tone.

As far as I have seen does all Limiteds have a matching leather on the steering wheel and shiftknob. But due to fading and a faster discoloring on the steering wheel and shiftknob, has many Limiteds got replacement parts.

Looking at your signature it looks like you have some very nice cars, sir. I am sure if a limited showed up on my doors step I could learn to love it and would certainly maintain in original condition. I am truly sorry if my opinion was not appropriate.

Expressing opinions is OK, but it's probably best to keep critiques factual and focused. It's a bit of a fine line on expressing opinions about external and internal colors because many owners buy cars with color combos that they really like, but they may be not other folks' cup of tea.

For example 199 (Pearl Black) is not GSXR's cup of tea, but (for obvious reasons) I think it's totally bitchin'. GSXR is happy to tell everyone that it's not his fave color, but I've never heard him go as far as saying that it's fugly (if he did I'd have to rank on 744). I'm not a huge fan of gray leather interiors (I prefer black or :mushroom:) but I wouldn't say that it's fugly or gross.

There's a lot of diversity here so it's best that we make comments that are a combination of fact and opinion.

Thanks guys, that sounds good!

The human brain is in fact an unpredictable and susceptible computer allowing the synapses to control our emotions – but not always mapping the consequence of the spontaneity. We are loaded with a predisposed comprehension to handle different situations – more like a pre-charged “emotional battery” – but which polarity do we choose..? Social inheritance is dominating each ones personality, but the psychological environment does automatically influence our brain programming. If you meet two unknown persons – one is relaxed and the other one is stressed, which one do you talk to?? A pretty simple choice, but which we in reality didn't control.

So this is not about disagreement on personal preferences, it is more about avoid building harsh forum behaviour undermining the mutual respect. If we spread unfiltered opinions, we have to take the consequences too; "bad create badness – good create goodness". Of course we can post personal opinions, and it is a proper roof height for that here. But posting single negative statements create negative vibes on the members. So negative comments should be objective and always put in a context.

Let's keep on shoulder to shoulder with the good things now. :thumbsup2:

To some, this is sniffing tainted cork, but as a rule, I tend to love the more gonzo factory interiors. The old school ribbed velour was God's very own chosen upholstery material in my opinion. I love the strangely and quaintly patterned cloth materials on the lower line cars in the ECE. I loved the 202 "Esprit" trim line interiors that looked like someone turned toddlers loose inside the car with florescent felt tip pens, and the various checkered flag and striped cloth patterns that were put in sportier cars such as the 129, 202 with the sport trim, 190-16 V, and of course the 124.036 in the ECE. So as you can guess from that, I absolutely love the "limited" interiors! And the black wood, too? Yum!!

Yes, the Birds Eye Maple is very nice!
But the stock holding at MB are now quite limited, and at cosmic prices! The dashboard has 4 panels/lists, and the inner left list, running above the mid console, has been NLA for years. I have requested several times over 5 years, hoping they did a production run, but "no more cheese for you my friend". Several of the different HVAC panels and shift console panels are also NLA. Another solution is letting Madera Concepts re-veneer a set using any type of standard panels. They replace with Maple veneer, stain it, apply the epoxy, and polish. I requested for a complete set two years ago, $1600 (including 2 extra switch holes in the HVAC panel) and that is about 40% of the new price!
