Ohh.. 9.5 in the rear.. not a lot of rims around in that size! Mostly 10.0
235/45r17 with 255/40r17 is the original size for that wheel.

or if you can find a tire 245/45 in combination with 265/40 would be an option. (Hard to find this combination in this times)

Yes, sure.. but 9.5 was already an other upgrade from Standart 8.5et30, if the customer wanted some AMG/OZ rims back then. Not even the 8.5 where Standart equipment.

For an 8.5" wide wheel on the 036, use 245-45-17,
If your run on all corners 8.5, yes go with 245/45.
If your run 9.5 or 10.0 I would no go with the 245/45 in the front.

235/45r17 has Diameter 643mm
245/45r17 has Diameter 652mm
255/40r17 has Diameter 636mm
265/40r17 has Diameter 644mm

Original
225/55r16 has Diameter 654mm

The relativ low 255 locks stupid in combination with even higher 245/45 in the front. the gap in rotations difference from front to rear for the ASR System is an other problem on higher speeds, specially on the e500e.

Best combination is 235/45 with 265/40, nearly perfect match. but the 265/40 is out of production for Europe NLA.
Option there is 245/45 with 275/40, or 235/45 with 255/40.
But the 275/40 is to wide for 9.5

I would like to install 245/40 17” with 275/45 17” but im afraid that it will rub the fenders.
Can someone confirm that these size on my rims(first post pics) will not rub the fenders front and rear? Even if the wheel is turned all the way?

Do you have an additional code for those amg rims in VIN, beside 957? If not- original would be 16 inch....

@Goran124,
That 87K€ E60 from the Japan Auction you just posted appears to have run Michelin 255/45-17” tires but it’s hard to tell from the pics if that was front & rear.

I’d guess unless your car is a wide body 036 your not going to fit anything larger than the 255/45-17s on the car.

Are there any better pics of the auction car?

Your wheels are 8.5 ET18 front, 9.5 ET24 rear, correct?

Should be no issues with clearance on an 036, but watch out for tyre designs with a "square" shoulder vs rounded. The rounded profile will allow more clearance.

@captruff has fit more aggressive wheel/tire combos than what you list above, he may be able to confirm your sizes will work without rubbing even at full lock.

:3gears:

No, my wheels are 17”, check pics ok my first post…
Yes, I was asking about width & offset. Diameter has almost zero effect on clearance since the total diameter remains the same.

17 x 8.5, ET18
17 x 9.5, ET24

This assumes the wheels still have the original barrels, and that no previous owner modified them.

Correct, wheels are not modified!

Auction car has 235/45/ZR17 , but that car has codes 779, 786 and code 957!
My car has only code 957.
I have check with the owner who bought the car when new, did he ordered car with this wheels or he bought them later, he said he cant remeber exactly but he think he ordered car with those wheels…
