This sounds like targeted 036 headlamp flipping to me.... just sayin
There is a difference between hoarding and flipping.
Hoarding is insurance/availability oriented, and generally a long-term activity.
Flipping is monetary/profit oriented, and generally a very short-term activity.
When they do become available, you folks had best buy a spare set. I'm going to buy a few sets myself on speculation, because down the road they will be a good investment when they are again NLA and folks are clamoring for a proper set.
This is a case of targeted 036 headlamp speculation. I do not have the lenses in hand; I have not advertised the lenses for sale; and I have not advertised a price for the lenses.
Headlight flipping is a case of buying headlight lenses for say $100 each, and then immediately turning around and selling them for $300 apiece.
That is different from buying them for $100 each, storing them in one's deep-parts stash for 5-10 years, and then selling them to some desperate owner at that time for $300.
Very little I have ever done has been short-term oriented. Not to mention the fact that my parts prices are generally very reasonable, and often deliberately under-cutting others who have sold similar parts. For example, transmission valve bodies or cam oiler tubes. I typically sell oiler tubes, cleaned and with new o-rings, for $125-140 shipped. Others are offering them at $160-200. Valve bodies? Many folks are advertising them at $250-300+. I will sell them for $150-180, shipped.
Just yesterday I sent a member a fuel pump relay that he purchased from me. And just to be nice, I threw another (different) 124 E500E relay into the box, gratis. I have always provided refunds, near-instantly, for any issue someone has with a part I've sold them. Or I will ship them another one at my expense, via Priority Mail.
No one can accuse me of being a flipper, cheater, or charging exorbitant (and I mean out-of-line) prices for my parts. I've done over 1,000 parts transactions over the past 10-12 years.
