Hello,

The coolant flows through the fan support bracket, but does the bracket affect the flow in any way, or is it just a passage?

Thanks Michael! :-)

That means when I replace the viscous fan with dual electric fans, the pulley on the fan support bracket is only for guiding the serpentine belt. The fan support bracket can theoretically be taken off, supposed another solution is made to guide the belt and the coolant.

So when I do the air pump delete, and instead of using the replacement pulley idler bracket, the alternator can be moved up doing the same function as the pulley idler bracket. That makes it possible to eliminate the fan support bracket too. It will be as shown on the sketch.

This will disclose two pulleys and reduce drag on the engine. The only need is a custom coolant hose, custom alternator bracket and a shorter belt. That's promissing!

Did you ever do the bearing bracket delete?

This modification is for the supercharged 6.0 as a consequence of upgrading the SC mounting bracket. Due to access restrictions I've sketched various solutions, but the SC may replace the smog pump and be driven by the serpentine belt. But I would better like a separate drive belt for the SC, both for optimising the RPM with various pulleys, and for security reasons in case the SC belt brakes. If the SC can be shoehorned in there, I have to modify the oilfilter housing as well to get enough space. The housing will be cut down and work as an adapter for oil hoses to a remote oilfilter unit. Cutting the oilfilter housing will also benefit the access for making down tube headers.

So, the prospected fan support bracket delete depends on the above - plus installing electric fans, it's a delicate domino so to say. I am also pretty much alone on this, not many supercharged 036 owners around to debate with you know. :-)
