We have had storms the last few days here but looked today like I had some clear time in the afternoon so I ran it up on my ramps and dropped the pan. However before I could get to the converter I heard the thunder and barely got it buttoned up and refilled in time to move it under cover before it hit.
Now what to do? Trying to decide if I should just run it a couple hundred miles and do a pan drain and fill or try and drain both the pan and the converter.
She was VERY clean inside with only a little clutch material sludge in the ribs on top of the old filter and absolutely NOTHING in the bottom of the pan after I dumped it or I would not hesitate to do another full fluid change. Cleanest trans inside I have changed in a WHILE! With it this clean may consider just a drain and fill on the pan as it's now mixed well. It takes 8 quarts to fully change the pan and converter according the the info I have so the 3.5 quarts it just took gives me just under a 50/50 mix now of old and new. Even before the change she shifted perfectly and reverse engages instantly fluid had lost most of the red die tint but didn't smell burnt and was pretty clear.
Not what I had planned to have to do but there is a tree over the area I use to do all my work that has some dead limbs and had to button up and move or risk getting it clobbered( and yes the incoming storm did knock some dead limbs out that landed right where the car would have been about 10 minuets after I got it moved so---).
