Dave,

I though that style of seats ended in 1990? They didn't get the same seats as the 034's? Pinkamino special!

Those are MB-Tex style pleats, used on all years of the 124 IIRC. The leather pleating changed as of 1990 (compared 1989 and older). Jeff's 1994 wagon has the same style seats (click here). IIRC, all years of USA-spec wagons and diesels had Tex as standard equipment and leather was optional.

This is not Palomino interior though, it's Saddle, which is quite a bit darker when you compare the two next to each other. Attached photo shows 90-up style leather.

Mink! LOL... great license plate for when Eric adds this to his collection, next to the 17kmi BaT gasser.

Same seats in my 94 wagon. Also I thought I read somewhere the technical name is "Saffron" for this interior. Or was that a 123 designation?

Saffron is not an accurate name for any color interior on North American 124 chassis.

I can't recall offhand what years / chassis Saffron applies to, but I believe it's late 90's or early 2000's, and S/SL class...?

:mushroom:

Oh no ... we have a new GSXR ToP ... saffron vs. saddle vs. nutria.

:stickpoke:

How about Minkomino?!?

Yes folks .... saffron is the new mushroom !!!

I had that interior in my '95 diesel. Parked outside the color held up fine on the seats and dash, but eventually the carpet was well on the way to pink-ness. That car appears to be a low mile unicorn for sure, but I don't know if anyone will pay near that price. I'll always have a soft spot for the 606. I sold mine at 467K (miles). It still ran great, original injectors, original timing chain, head never off. The rest of the car however was dying the death of a thousand cuts and finally it needed a new evaporator. Not on my watch.

It might just be me... but i CAN'T STAND the zebrano in 300/320s! IMHO the burl increases cabin desirability by just over 1100%.

Mostly agree about the Zebrano, when matched with any of the many "tannish" interior variations...
However, I just stole a '94 wagon, Brillant Silver, with a medium gray Tex interior, and I can honestly say, the Zebrano trim with the gray and usual remaining black interior trim looks even better than burl would...

And just to be fair, my 180Kmile '92 M104 CE with CIS-E has been very well-behaved, reliable, and free of significant diagnostic mysteries. And that's with ASR...
Do I know I've been lucky? Yup.
Do I know I'm living on borrowed time? You betcha'.

northNH....you are performing well in your DarkCISde training.

Nothing wrong with Zebrano, especially in pedestrian models.

MB used to have awesome wood, but that ended in the 1971-1972 period. My 1969 300SEL 6.3 had Macassar Ebony, which is a super-rare African wood that is sort of a super-rich Zebrano. MB made several other varieties of awesome wood too.

I think its the very uniform pattern in Zebrano plus its lighter shade that just makes me go ‘ugggggggh’. And yes northNH, agreed, the darker brown interiors (regardless of shade) don’t do the wood accents any favors, Zebrano or not.
