We realized that the front fenders of the recently imported limited from japan are made of plastic.... hmmmm

I found it strange, however as i was watching it closer, it looks quite well shaped. I even found the rest of a sticker inside the fender, but there is no more marks.
My idea is that the japanese needed these plastic fenders because the side blinkers....
Have you seen already such a plastic fender? Does Mercedes fabricated metal 500e fenders with side blinker option?
Thx

seems abit weird.
I think i would ask the guys where you bought it from ..on WHY there is plastic fenders on it.
But the fenders look very good though..the quality of the molding n such seems very "detailed " and not something someone made in the shed.looks factory .

I think none of the fenders where made WITH holes for the side blinker..i dont know..but i reckon all side blinkers where put on at the dealers.

There were factory plastic fenders available - rare items, and I don't think they were ever installed on new E500E's. But there are part number in the EPC for them.

P/N: A1248814101 left, A1248814201 right.

Pretty sure they are NLA now.

really ?

Yes the fenders are original and since quite a while NLA! There is no documentation or information if a car was equipped with plastic fenders by remarks on the data card. It is to believed that these fenders was used in the first HAMMER cars which appeared way earlier than the E500E and are absolutely identical in shape. But why they have then a normal MB and no HWA part number leaves room for speculation. They are about 50% lighter than the standard sheet metal ones.

I don't get up the pics on my PC here at work, but I took a look at them on my phone. The fender has a high level on the details so they are likely the original Kunststoffausführung, that's a great surprise! :) Take good care of them.

To me they seem to be originals too. Here a photo of mine, they had a similar shaped sticker in the almost same area (the whitish stuff on the the right is just dust from the years they have been laying around.)
