(Mods - didnt know what sub forum to list this under so feel free to move as you see fit)

On moving cars around today, adding fresh fuel and airing up tyres etc as a mid winter maintenance drive I discovered to my horror that a few doors refused to open  This was on 2x w140 saloons and my 300E-24

Such a helpless feeling when both the inner and outer handles dont open the door despite the lock button popping up. I mean how In the hollio fork do you repair that?? Door card cant come off without the door being open so certain destruction is required if you cannot get it open. I discovered 4x doors total across those 3x cars that wouldn't open.

After I soiled my underwear I came up with a different plan. This involved opening the handle and using a straw to shoot much needed oil in there generally. Coupled with opening and closing the central locking system and trying both handles at the same time (windows rolled down)

Eventually one by one they started to open up

So needless to say I spent the next hour going around all cars and lubing the heck out of all latches. My neighbours must have thought there was a machine gun going off I was opening and shutting the doors that fast and often whilst spraying bursts of oil in.

DONT neglect those latches folks! That could have been a massive PITA for me if left too long. I must admit with all the maintenance I do on the cars some have not had the latches oiled in years. There is a Poll being added - please be 100% honest and post when the last time was YOU oiled your latches. Anonymous poll so no one will judge you or stop sending 500E Board Christmas cards

I used a 3 in 1 spray oil with PTFE. It appears to stay on for a good number of months. (WD40 would not) I also have lock grease spray which goes inside the lock tumblers.

When places open again I see if Wurth have a good product to use for oiling the latches
