Interior sun roof panel has dropped down while in the tilt position.

Hello

Over the weekend the inside fabric panel on my sun roof has dropped down only on the right side, looking up at it as you sit in the car. It is in the tilt up position and I cannot close it even if I hold the panel up with my hand, it seems to jam.

Anyone have instructions on how to remove this as it is very difficult to look into the space and see what the problem may be. I suspect a broken clip or something like that.

Thanks

First be very careful as the foam backing mixed with the glue of the day will stain everything it touches. Get an old sheet or series of then and cover anything you don't want ruined.

The leading edge is fastened to the lift assembly by some plastic rivets. If you can see the jambed fabric from behind outside, free it with a stiff wire or something. If you cannot, then you should be able to pull the leading edge at each plastic rivet straight down (4 of them IIRC) then proceed. The manual has an easy to understand graphic on this. Just don't force the sunroof, the arms that lift are very brittle and quite scarce.

The pic shows what you cannot see from the inside, 4 pull down areas and though from a w126, it is essentially the same setup.

It isn't always easy, but you may be able to slide it forward and down the slope of the window, but again you may not, I have not done it on the W124. If you get the leading edge free, you may be able to see and free the jam, or from behind since roof is lifted. Without removing the silver rails that hold down the fabric on the opening, it can be futile. I just suggest you free up space to free the jam, get creative.
