"Is your car for sale?"

I had today on of these experiences again.

I entered the Autobahn and saw that a car started to follow me. He followed me on my exit of the autobahn, through the village and on the way into the house, he pulled up on the driveway! Spend the window:

Him "Is your car for sale?"
Me "No!!!"
Him "I give your 30k"
Me very annoyed "Not for sale. Good bye" And worked myself into the house
Him calling lowed "Is the G-Class for sale"
Him "Oh is that an E500 Limited"

Why do these people think that I would want to sell to someone with no manners? Why do they think that I have no clue of the value of my collectors car? After all it is insured! Why do the think I would trust someone who approached me like this that I would get the money?

My wife thought I was rude not engaging in a friendly discussion.

Does anyone here have a similar experience? Views?

I'd have said "Sure, 130k sounds good, let's meet at your bank!" and watch him backpedal.

Could have been an option, but I really don't want to engage with these clowns. If someone is interested in looking and enjoying my car. Sure, I'm happy to invest time and passion. But if someone just sees a deal and thinks I have to engage, move on.....

After all, I'm the enjoying my cars business not selling my cars...

I’ve had the opposite happen twice back when I had my W211 as a daily driver - and lived in the middle of the city. Both times I was offered more than twice what the car was worth, paid in small bills. I would give the car and a small amount in large bills in return…….

Like in your experience, not all car talk is inspiring.

In Europe, All the time! I can imagine the type of person who chased you... "WAS IST LETZTE PREIS ??"

Set a high number so they don't bother you again.

its never serious when a rando pulls this and if anything, its always a lowball offer and a tire kicker...

Out of the many, many, many offers I’ve been given while on the road, never got a lowball offer. The lowest was $45K. No offers were made while the car was still in stock trim.

More like: Das ist sehr gute Preis! Musst Du ja sagen! ......... [That is a very good price! You have to say yes.]

Saying high number just extends the not asked for discussion

My phone is getting blown up with the same same regarding properties that I own.

Random texter: "Hi Al, would you be interesting in hearing an offer on your commercial property in Grayson Co?"
Me: "What's your offer?"
Random texter: "That's a good question, what would you accept for it?"
Me: "So you're asking me if I'm interested in hearing an offer when you don't have one?"
Me: block sender and report as spam.
