Japanese Radio Plug & Play...?

Hi. I've got a 1994 car, so the 1492 with CD autochanger (as far as I can tell).

The Japanese radio frequencies are super limited, so I can't listen to my baroque lute music in the mornings in the UK...

So - can I hike out the head unit, and replace directly with something like a modern Pioneer, without changing any other thing in the car?

Remove the Japanese 1492 & replace it with another 1492 (with auxiliary port) tuned to your geography.

I don't think aux ports were even being considered in the early 90's.
