WANTED Left and right facelift tail light lenses

Hi,

I'm looking for left and right facelift tail light lenses. Used in good condition is fine.

Alternately, if anyone knows good a good quality aftermarket source, I would appreciate the lead. MB Annapolis is showing only the right lens available at $315.

Thanks!

In a pinch, I would run these until I found some factory ones...

I ran them for years (smoked version) until I finally got around to "upgrading" to 20 year old factory models. I never had any complaints and only the guys here knew the difference. It kind of depends on whether you're doing a concours restoration or just need tail lights.

PS... I know, pics or it didn't happen

Try to contact Speed Autoteile in Germany info@speed-autoteile.com and see if they still have tail lights. I got my tail lights (although the smoked version) from them and they are from Hella, and are excellent. But this was a while ago, so I’m not sure how much they cost now.

The left side USA-spec lens (124-820-41-66) is NLA. 😟

However, the Euro-spec facelift lenses are still available, 124-820-37-66 (left) and 124-820-40-66 (right). RevParts sites, including Annapolis, may show them as "Currently unavailable". MSRP is $188 each, discount dealers like Covington / Laredo are <$120 each. You will need to call and talk to a live person, you won't be able to order them online.

There's a chance these are "comm blocked", if so, you would need to order from Speed-Autoteile in Germany. The cost may be prohibitive, likely €150-175 each plus S&H. In which case I'd seriously consider maw's recommendation for aftermarket, or get nice used ones off eBay.

I believe the Euro lenses lack the USA-spec side/corner marker bulb provision, but if you remove those bulbs from both holders, the Euro lens should work fine with the USA holder. Edit - the lenses have no significant difference between USA+Euro, it's the Euro reflectors that lack provision for the additional USA-spec "corner" bulb.

@maw1124 Damn, those are dark.
Indeed. I had to get those bright red / amber OE pre facelift ones out of there immediately though (pictured). And I felt like the smoked ones went with the Shades of Grey and Black thing I have going with this car.

It took me a while to find a good set of facelift Hellas, but patience paid off. When I got them I started to leave them on the shelf but since I had the originals I installed them.

Don't think I have a picture though.

PS... I ended up paying $125 for the pair in 2021... add $75 for the internal supports, thanks to my sherpa @gsxr... eBay seller still has the internal supports if you need them... just trying to get you what you need, as guys here have done for me.

I have no idea. I think you'd just have to go by the part numbers. @gsxr what's the difference between the ones ending in "66" part numbers vs those ending in "64" part numbers?

maw

That was what I figured. You and I actually verified all that before I bought them, so I'm loathe to ask you to redo that work. Just checked my emails, that was almost 4 years ago to the day.

😉
