Loose pipe from air pump?

Hello, just picked up my benz from my mechanic after yearly check and service. All good with the car but he found a pipe which is not connected to anything. He could not find any way where it should be pluged in.

It is a pipe which is located on the right site of the motor, goes from vacum emissions air pump? I attach photos of that pipe.

Do anyone here have a clue where this pipe should go to? What is this for? Maybe someone could take picture of where it should go?

That is from the air pump (not vacuum pump)... thread title/body edited.

It should connect to an air valve which then connects to the block:

omg that was quick replay.
It looks like the end of my pipe is a bit melted as it went to the exhoust i belive. Do you have a part number of that?

Also what is it supposed to do? what is this for?

And you should be taking your car to someone who has seen the engine before....just saying that the MX tech should know this. It may be the reason you brought in the car.... or a contributor to it. You may have to replace/refresh multiple soft parts on the vehicle.

There are 4 total hoses, I think #46 is the one in your photo?

The air pump pushes air into the exhaust stream after a cold start, when the mixture is rich. The extra air leans the mixture to allow the catalysts to heat faster. It's designed to reduce emissions at a cold start.
