I was first introduced to the 500E in a European Car Mag spread back in 2010: http://www.superstreetonline.com/features/epcp-1002-1994-mercedes-benz-e500-limited/ and right away I knew I had to have one of my own. I was instantly in love with it, the idea of Porsche being involved with the assembly, a pre-merger answer to the M5, Mercedes hot rodding that motor into the 124 chassis, it was that awesome auto history MB has such a wealth of, and I needed to have a piece of it. After I was fortunate enough to find the right one for me, I remembered from the article that the owner had a great stock looking aftermarket wheel that fit into the interior very seamlessly, and came to find that this was the very rare and coveted Victor wheel after researching it a bit on our awesome forum here. I was able to find one a little while back on german ebay but in a botched attempt to "snipe" the auction I lost at the very last minute. Not long after, there was a nice SL60 on ebay that I saw which had a Victor wheel installed in it. I watched the auction and saw that he was having trouble selling it, so about a month later I reached out to him and inquired if I could maybe convince him to sell the wheel, and much to my surprise, he agreed! I received it today and I'm elated! Its beautiful, the quality is great, and its period correct which is a must for me! I'll get some shots of it installed soon!

Good story. I've tried negotiating for bits from sale cars but no luck to date. Nice wheel.

This is typical Mercedes - relaxed,no drama, very stable at such speeds.

Wow, yours looks super mint! I'm looking forward to enjoying that grip for years to come! Such a testament to these cars that you don't need to be white knuckled moving these tanks around on the highway at speeds like that. Have you also upgraded the shift knob? The V8 G wagen unit is tempting, but also difficult to find. I think it is the only one I'd consider. I really want to get the 94 E420 door sills also now that the interior will be looking so fresh.

Hey Everyone,

I've found a very low cost "needs work" TE wagon with an original Victor wheel in in it for $1800 in Pinellas County, FL. I'd bet for that price the seller might be willing to part with the wheel in exchange for your stock wheel plus some cash. I made a similar inquiry to the seller of a whole vehicle also and ended up making a deal on just the wheel. Give it a shot! These are hard to find and I'm nearly certain thats an original.

So I've just found the last piece of my own personal interior appointments upgrade package! A good condition burl/blk leather oem V8 badged shift knob off of eBay for a smokin' deal I might add! http://www.ebay.com/itm/231478975598?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

This will look great with the Victor wheel which I installed recently. When everything is in the car I'll take some pictures. I also have the NOS "Limited" door sills waiting to be installed. The finishing touch will be the OEM AMG pedal covers with the little rubber circles on them but those are easy to get a hold of. Anyway, a quick question as I was unable to re-find the thread that discussed this for lack of a good keyword to search it, but which transmission "shaft?" do I need so I can mount this properly and have it sit closer to the "shifter gate?" instead of high up like the stock one does now? I'd like it to look more like it does in the 129SL or the 140S. Is the "shaft" the only thing that I need to replace to make this work? Thanks guys!
