I took my lad to a MB driving experience at Mercedes Benz World last week, we had plenty of time to go around the museum too.

Yup it's well worth a visit if you're in the area. I was there in March, was my 3rd visit over the years (I have family in UK), always something cool to see.
I live halfway between here and Goodwood so it does get taken for granted a bit.

The F1 exhibition included non-Mercedes cars, and as you say what’s on display is significantly different each time.

There was a well used C126 in the car park too so the museum theme continued outside!!!

I will go to Stuttgart at some point in the not too distant future to see the big brother version which looks very impressive. The question is whether to drive there or take a plane…

On a side note I'd skip the Brooklands museum next door. It's pricey for basically a bunch of sheds with cars in it. The Concorde experience is cool if you're an aviation nut but now they charge extra for it (of course) and when I first went there it was included in the entry fee. I guess if you're a local not too bad but the Canadian $ to GBP really stings so for me I love that MB World is still gratis (for now at least...)

I've not been despite it's proximity. I have seen 2 x Concorde in Toulouse a couple of years ago so that itch is scratched.

Yes, it is great that something so good is free of charge to enter - certainly a rarity in the current economic climate.
