Why does the EPC list my 500 E as "500E E500 AMG 6.0 and E60"? See below

  • Vehicle: WDBEA36E4NB722461 (44T)
  • 500 E / AMG 500 E 6.0 E 500 / E 60 AMG
  • Color: 199 - BLUE-BLACK - METALLIC
  • Equipment: 278 - LEATHER GREY
  • FIN: WDB1240361B722461

It is because they all have a VIN starting with WDB124036 (at least with the standard European VIN), and the EPC does not differ between them in general.

Of course other than the usual notifications like "only for cars up to VIN xyz", "only for cars from VIN xyz on" or "SA-code xyz only".

The difference between 500E and E500 can be found in "only for cars up to VIN xyz" which often equals to 500E, and "only for cars from VIN xyz on" which often equals to E500.

Like you know, the AMG package was offered as factory option and seen as a normal SA with SA-code 957 (like for example a leather interior).
But the car was still titled as WDB124036

linjam, your datacard shows it as 500E. Screenshot below.

What you are looking at is as @744Brillantsilber and @Honch described, it's a generic description for the overall 124.036 chassis lineup, not your car specifically. Only the datacard shows information unique to your VIN.

Please disregard the obsolete and outmoded "EPC" data card. It's the "AMPS" equivalent for cell-phone generations.

The "Pee-Pee" datacard (attached) is much better, not to mention current and state-of-the-art.

Pffft. And XPISS is sooooo state-of-the-art, it can't tell the difference between a 500E and an E500! :ROFLMAO:

Thanks guys! So much more info on it than I anticipated. Very interesting.

By the way, the Xentry/EPC/XPISS/whatever online system seems to have improved quite a bit recently. It now has a better interface and seems a bit quicker. Nothing major but improved.

correct. They’ve had a significant software and interface (usability) upgrade a few weeks ago.

It still won’t replace @gsxr’s green screen EPC though.
