our goal with the track car is to make a 500E work as well as it can..now a lot of our safety mods (full cage....) don't really work on street cars, a lot of what we are doing can/will in varying degrees..:) If anyone has questions/thoughts or otherwise...that's why we're here!

I started a thread over in the track section:
http://www.500eboard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=35

but here is a run down for those that don't like to click through:

Full interior strip/Removal.
6 point stainless/tig welded roll cage.
Quafe LSD
Removal of all ancillary wiring/harnesses.
Removal of a goodly bit of insulation, still have a bit more to pull yet.
H&R SL600 springs (thickest and most coils per inch of what I could find on the shelf)..took some, um...cutting!
Koni Adjustable struts/shocks front and rear.
Semi Solid engine and transmission mounts, ie engine mounts hydraulic oil drained and 90 weight urethane used to fill the void. Transmission mount also filled.
Fully Built valve body and updated modulator valve. Running +9 lbs over stock pressure and Redline synthetic type F fluid.
Redline 15/50 Engine oil.
Non ASR throttle actuator
ABS and ASR delete...not much choice with the above ETA...->this also gives a standing idle of around 1100 rpm.
345mm front rotors from ML430
Stock rear vented rotors.
4 piston brembo/MB front calipers from w220 S600
Castrol SRF fluid.
Custom braided brake lines.
EBC yellow stuff rears
**we were supposed to have Porterfield R4 fronts for this outing but the order got FUBAR so we were running a street/track-ish pad. We destroyed the pads Utterly in 1 day. Plan on sending these backing plates out for a Full On track compound from some NASCAR shop in SC.
Deleted SLS rear, installed Non SLS power steering pump from 400E.
Full AC delete.
No fan clutch, just a switchable 16' Spal pusher for when we're in the pits etc..
Sparco wheel w/ NRG quick release hub and someones hub adapter...IDK, I got it off Ebay, it's for a Nardi wheel.
Full heater and wiper delete.
We didn't get to install Feinds rear sway bar for this outing..ran short on time (flu...) but we are looking Very forward to his Stage II setup when we want to run.
For wheels and tires this outing we ran E63 wheels w/ 25mm H&R spacers. Toyo R888's front and rear...235 front, 255 rear. Next time I'll run 255's front and I'm looking to put a 275 in the rear..after a few laps wheel spin became an issue coming out of 5, 7 and 10b. running 38psi cold
Also hope to switch the rear sub frame bushings over to poly while we do the rear bar..should stop things from wiggling around some..
Oh, and exhaust is straight through to a magnaflow, no cats etc..

Ah, seats are OMP's, full 6 point harnesses..

Can you subjectively say how stiff the springs feel to you? How much stiffer are they than the OE ones? Just curious......Thanks- Cory

Ohhh...its a Lot stiffer. H&R's are fairly stiff on their own. This feels far more taught, quite honestly like a modern M or C63 etc... But I'm also running the koni's on Maximum to boot.

Looks like great fun, Johnathan! The old girl handles pretty well. Turn 12 will carve the rubber from the tires of a heavy ride. Very little tire squeal. Sound is great! Have you tried to fit 17s over those brakes? Just curious. Thanks for posting.

Yea, never could really Hear the tires spinning, just Feel it-->dial in some opposite to square her up!

We tried 17's, no dice over this setup, you have to run 18's.

Glad you enjoyed!! Hope yer staying warm this winter, stop by when ever yer in the area!!

The forum chokes on image sizes larger than 4000 pixels... I twiddled with it, dropped to 3200, and that seemed to work.

Nice photo, btw! You going to build a 6L for the ol' rat eventually, or just see what you can squeeze out of the 5L?

4000 pixels is a DARN large image. As in several times the size of most anyone's monitor, and even larger than my 30" Apple Cinema Display sitting here on my desktop. I have yet to find another forum on the Internet who is as generous with image sizes as this one is.

You can also upload images as large as 1.5 MB or so, which is also quite large for an image. PDFs go up to about 8 MB in size.

You just can't post images from your cell phone unless you size them downward a bit (both pixel and file size). Just the way it is.

one MILLION pixels...!!! (in my best dr.evil...)

Yea, no..I didn't dumb it down any, this was straight off the disk from the fellow shooting @ the track.

As for power, I don't think I'm going to 6L this car, too much $$$$ and effort required. What I'd love to do is play with intake for a minute and eventually do a set of rear mounts and stand alone. with 500+ @ the crank this will motivate nicely!

Oh My RATT....jeez...haven't heard from them since Middle School!!!

Yes, Track Ratt....:)

Thanks the next round of mods will likely be chasing weight out of the car! All the glass except the windscreen will be pulled, the rear we'll do in Lexan. Door panels will get gutted/windows and motors removed..and sunroof/tray/motor will get pulled.

Not sure what else we can readily chase, but we're working on finding more.. OH, we did order up one of these race-car type Li ion batteries...damn thing weighs 5 lbs.

Would like to experiment with cam shafts on this engine, one of these days we'll get it base lined.

Good Times:-D

had some tires that needed vapourizing before we spooned on some fresh shoes. also wanted to see if we could run an 18X10 in the front and still have acceptable clearance.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuHz0hSSngg

per the last post we chased a lot lower hanging fruit weight wise. In heading down the lexan rear window, turns out that's a PITA and the weight difference b/w that and a single pane piece of glass is about 4 lbs. IMHO, not worth the trouble! We did put a fresh windscreen in though so now we can see Clear as day, especially in the waning sunlight/sun low in the horizon.

we have ITB's coming from england in the next month or so, and we Might have a 6L to spoon in, will keep y'all posted..:)

Hope to play with flattening out the bottom of the car, try to make a semi effective diffuser...gotta make that air work For you!

Anyone in around Alabama, we'll be running the first weekend in February, Friday-Sunday...Come on by!

See how much ROOM there is to play at Jono's new shop!

That is only the rear parking lot.

The GTG ought to be a hoot.:8-banger::3gears:

Nice! How you are going to do 6.0l? Alusil bore or steel liners? How About head gaskets? I just get head gaskets, they are OEM elring that has been modified to 100mm bore. How this ITB system fit under the hood?

Alusil. We have head gaskets on the shelf..:)

It Should fit under the hood based on measurements...we'll know for Certain fairly soon!

Jono

We're thinking of skinning the hood in alloy...and removing the Vast majority of the bracing/pinning it in. That hood is surprisingly heavy...!!!

Crank case of Brad Penn 20/50 Racing Hengst filter.

Drive..:)

Oil temps w/ the factory Euro cooler are Great. We used just over 1Qt in 16 hours of racing.

Each time we've dropped the oil after a w/e of abuse, oil look fantastic.
No smoke on start up even after sitting still for weeks on end//decel and accel are Clear as well.

Tim ran into oiling issues but he was bumping 8K on down shifts. I don't plan on taking this engine much past 6500 rpm, endurance racing and all..:)
