Mono-wiper Re-installation Question

Hi gang,

Quick question here as my photographs of disassembly were not clear enough.....
When re-installing the mono wiper, how does the "foot" of the mono wiper seat back into the car? By "foot" I mean the rubber/metal foot thingy --- see pictures below. Does the "foot" just rest on top of the metal bracket?

Thanks

@Jlaa,

The attached image should help you.

Cheers,

Thanks! When I removed the assembly from the car, I don’t remember having to fuss with the clip. I think the whole “foot” just lifted off. Is the rubber isolator supposed to sit on top of metal-bracket-mounted-on-the-car, and the the clip goes over the whole deal?

I've seen more than a few cars over the years where the clips are missing. Be glad yours is still there.

Thanks ---- Another question ---- Is the silver part supposed to contact the gold part directly, or is there supposed to be rubber in between? See the two pictures below --- closeup shots with commentary --- many thanks. Perhaps @JC220 is the expert on the mono wiper, given all his "mono wiper rebuild" activity . :-)

The rubber piece wraps around the silver part on the wiper bracket. The clip goes around the whole thing. The rubber isolates the wiper from the chassis bracket.

Thanks. That makes sense —- and it looks like the peach parts photos are wrong!

Ok thanks got it. I think whoever was here previously put the clip back on, but was not careful in ensuring the bottom of the clip sandwiched the gold piece at the bottom, and the bottom of the clip eneded up sitting above the gold piece.

That would explain why the monowiper “foot” just lifted away. All fixed now. 👍

Is this a great place or what?

Yes, it's also something I've seen a few times. The rubber is designed to fit between the metal pieces (held by the clip) to serve as a buffer/vibration isolator.

Did you take apart your wiper assembly, inspect the gear, and lubricate everything with Gleitpaste? :hornets:
