On May 12, 2023, the esteemed @TimL visited a few of us here in Northern California. We all played hooky on a Friday morning and went for a drive in Marin around the Mt. Tamalpais area and then continuing up to Point Reyes area where we had lunch. It was a grand time and traffic was quite minimal - great for a leisurely cruise in the Marin headlands with expansive ocean views, rolling green hills, and generally ..... felt like we were driving in the Windows XP desktop. How much more apropos can one be with the time-period from whence our cars came? (unless we drove around in the Windows 95 desktop I suppose....)

Anyways it was a great time chatting and driving with @luckymike, @kegmankipp, and @TimL. Without the tireless efforts and contributions of @gerryvz to create this forum, we would not have met and enjoyed each other's company on a glorious May morning.

@Jlaa thank you so much for planning and organizing this fun outing- the route was just stunning and your judicious lead car performance on these tricky roads was unrivaled! I had the fortune of being behind your pristine 036 for the day and have come to the conclusion that your NEEZ Euro Six are the perfect fit for the E500E…..what a car 😍👍🏽

This drive was amazing. On the way up to San Francisco it was very foggy. As we approached the Golden Gate Bridge, the fog lifted, revealing an astoundingly beautiful day.

The route was very scenic. As Jlaa said, we had minimal traffic. At times, there were more cyclists than cars.

We had a delightful, chill lunch in Point Reyes Station. Great conversation. We almost made it to the Point Reyes lighthouse for a group photo, but decided to wait for another day.

As to the cars, Jlaa's and Tim's cars are simply beautiful. So clean and tidy. Since I have an E420, I'm particularly drawn to Chris's car. Sweet, sweet AMG touches. Looks amazing stationary and in motion. I wish we would've had an airborne film crew following us through these picturesque roads with the views out to the ocean.

It will be hard to re-create this day, but I hope we eventually try!

Yes, many thanks to all and bonus points to JLAA for all his planning.

Beautiful seeing the 124s together. Next time needs to be many more.

Mr Tech Savvy JLAA can load the amateur hour phone videos I tried to film during some of the slower sections?

🍻

Looks like you boys had a great time. All of the cars look great! I to think kegmankip’s car looks great w/ the AMG touches but I’m partial to 040.

BTW, I’m guessing that the two looking into the engine bay have to be kip and Tim maybe?

lol

Looks like you guys had loads of fun.

When I lived in the Bay Area this was one of my favorite drives on a Sunday morning in my 1970 250C. Point Reyes is such a cool place and a great drive for any car, except maybe a W123, right, Dave? :jono:
