OE Heat Insulating tubes for Fluid hoses, vacuum hoses and sensors wires

I think this thread would be beneficial to many owners. I hope we can list suggestions for replacement heat insulating tubes, as the dealership believes most are NLA!

Here are the heat insulation tubes I would like to replace:

- EZL to Knock sensors wiring

- Vacuum hoses from engine block to EZL and EVAP.

- Aluminum tube around power steering hoses. Could be used for other fluid hoses as well.

Please let me know your suggestions, and if you have other Heat Insulating tubes to add to the list just write them down here in the thread.

The knock sensor corrugated tubing is not sold separately, it's a solid tube (not "split loom") and wires are inserted during manufacturing. Sadly, even new old stock sensors often have brittle tubing that falls apart when you install the new sensors. Would be nice to find an aftermarket solution that is heat resistant and also will not absorb oil / fluids.

For vacuum tubing, I think something similar to this Heatshield Hot Rod Sleeve may work well (click here).

The corrugated aluminum tubing around power steering hoses (126-997-29-82) should still be available, $11.50 USD list price in USA, sold by the meter. MB Classic shows "available", click here, screenshot below:

Hi Dave, I will ask about 126-997-29-82 tomorrow. But for the rest we need to maintain the OE look so we need a similar material

"Aluminum tube around power steering hoses" is A126-997-29-82 as mentioned by @gsxr and is still AVAILABLE!!!

Another Item to replace is the insulation for the 2 vacuum tubes that go through the firewall just underneath the throttle cable. Part number?

Still looking for a replacement for the Knock sensors wires insulation.

The corrugated non-split-loom tubing is, I think, 001-546-94-30... which has been NLA for at least 15 years.

The non-corrugated tubing is still available in some sizes between at least 5mm and 14mm (however 7, 8, 10, and 11mm are all NLA). For example 040621-006200 is the 6mm, replace the two digits in red with the desired size in mm.

This will have to be aftermarket and split-loom since the connector and sensor are not removable.

Thanks to the wisdom of @gsxr , I am tracking down the availability of the insulating tube. I will report on the availability once the dealership in Germany can confirm the availability.

For the knock sensors wiring, I will measure the diameter of the original corrugated insulating pipe. Should be available in the other side of the world.
