polarity info needed to reinstall factory speakers.

I put rainbows in front (the drop ins) but the tech did not use the adapter harness and cut and replaced wires.. so now I have to figure out the correct polarity....

People should know that not all car speakers are put in with phase intact... and that is on purpose at times.

If anyone has a Monster cable polarity checker disc and listening tool. ... they could check polarity for me and that would be enough.

Just play a bass heavy song and shift the balance to the right or left. If the lower notes seem to "disappear" when the balance is returned to center then the speakers are out of phase. Use a 1.5v battery and touch the speaker wires to either end of the battery. The speaker cone will move up (out) when positive-positive and negative-negative are connected. The cone will move down (in) when + and - are reversed.

I don't remember the exact colors now but check the wires at the speaker. The solid color should be negative and the striped wire will be positive. Just to be sure you can verify the striping with the rear speakers as they are wired with the dash speakers (via fader), making polarity even more important. I'm going to reserve judgment on the "tech" who did the installation.
