Nice to meet you.
I am considering upgrading the R171 to amg6pod brakes.
As a result of various investigations, it is necessary to cut the steering stopper and process the input part of the brake hose, which is a problem. The cut of the steering stopper is good, but I am worried about the trouble of the brake hose input part. Is there enough space between the knuckle and the brake hose input even at 360mm? (Brake hose is made using banjo)
I think it's best to cut the caliper brake hose input by 20mm and tap it anew, just like the W201 guy, but DIY is a bit of a hurdle. On the contrary, like the person who assembled 340mm with R129, if you close the original input part and input to the air bleeding nipple, I feel that the air does not escape. Please tell me the detailed person.

Indeed the solution with the brake hose connected to the bleeder nipple is rightout dangerous since the hose is too close to the rotating wheel. certainly will face also issues while bleeding the system.
With 360mm Version you can use the calipers as they are. Go through my owners thread. I m having this option installed since 2006 or so.

I wonder over this work. I have Stahlflex Brake hose installed .Was made here in Germany with ABE (To use street legeal) ,I send the guy an Template and he built this and works and fit perfekt. Can not loose or rubbing .easy perfekt ,and cost i think 149€ inkl Tax and delivery in Germany.

Why? i drive 390mm with 6 pod in the front and 330 mm rear. This setup Imo the best for German High speed driving. Its over above all Doubt,
but one big Problem you have for 390mm in front ,Its requeirs 19Zoll Wheels .But its works perfekt. First my car has 300 in front that not funny to push the Brake behind any modern fast car.Yes is not Original yeah, but ..............:wheelchair:.
for the 345mm Brake rotors and callipers ,i think from w203 with 4pod calipers are the same as Silver arrows from sl and not so cheap, but iam not sure.
you must try and error and for original it is the first choice.

W203 calipers are not an easy bolt-on, the fluid inlet interferes on the back side. Also not sure if the rotors fit properly.

Sure, you can fit ANY brakes if you are willing to do lots of custom modifications, but at some point you have to ask yourself if it's worth the effort. Not everyone is going 300kph on the autobahn and actually needs 390mm brakes.

The original question was about 340mm with 6-pot calipers, IMO the 334mm R129 will be roughly similar in performance and 100% bolt-on. Yeah, yeah, the 340mm with 6-pot and 2-pc rotor is way cooler, but it probably doesn't improve brake torque THAT much.

:grouphug:

Thanks guys. In the case of 360mm, it seems that the hose inlet of the 6-piston caliper can be used as it is without cutting, so we will go with 360mm. Thank you very much.

check MB wholesalers online, I just bought a pair of 6 pots for my C55 for $960 shipped, about $200 more than used sets you find but... brand new... You can also find the Brembo 2 piece 360mm [rotors] for around $550 a set on eBay or Amazon...

The 360 mm set up for the SLK/CLK 55 AMG is the performance package P030, and IIRC it is standard for the C63 AMG. But be aware of that the 6-pot caliper itself is the same for both the 345 mm and the 360 mm set up, the only difference is a taller mounting bracket for the P030. That means if you are looking for used calipers you'll very likely find calipers for the standard 345 mm set up, which is the most common around. The only difference is about 10-12 mm height on the bracket which is hard to see just on an image. I was searching for a loooong time but gave up and bought the standard 345 mm calipers and thought I would just replace the mounting brackets. But the brackets are not sold as separate items, and the calipers has even to be sent to the Brembo factory for replacing the brackets! So I am ending up making custom mounting brackets.

The good thing with using the 360 mm P030 package is that you don't have to cut the steering bump stop on the steering knuckle/spindle. However, that can be avoided on the 345 mm set up if you rotate the calipers a bit and use custom mountings brackets.

BTW, I have copies of the original Brembo production drawings of the 6-pot caliper, the 360 mm disc and the SLK/CLK steering knuckle, so let me know if you need any information.
