Gentlemen,
May I request for the MB OE part number for the "updated" water pump (pictures attached) and also for the thermostat cover. Also for information, if the MB OE water pump is "NLA" are there OEM substitutes available?

Thank you in advance.

PS: I downloaded the pictures from the METECH Restorations (Japan) yesterday. I am actually using the above parts (including the Wahler thermostat), however, I failed to record the part numbers way back in 2008.

Regards

'Early' M119 Water Pump, utilized up to Engine Numbers (119.974:010204, 119.975:020771)

Utilizes
  • Thermostat 'cap': A1192030074
  • Thermostat: A1162000315
  • Inlet Connection: A1192011030 (ISPPI interestingly notes that the use of this PN started with M119.974:001427 and M119.975:000041) I haven't been able to figure out what Inlet Connection is utilized prior to those Block Numbers, but hopefully none of us need to worry about it :D

'Late' M119 Water Pump, utilized as of Engine Numbers (119.974:010205 119.975:020772)

Hello a777fan :)

Thank you very much for the information you posted above :worshippy:

Just additional info ... the internals of the water pump as fitted on my M119.960 (originally) compared to the "updated" internals of the water pump pictured above are really different, in the sense that the "updated" version has better internal design. If I'm not having "senior moment" now, I think I saw/read that modification on the defunct 500Ecstasy. If memory serves me right, there were comparative pictures posted at 500Ecstasy between my originally fitted water pump and that of the "updated" ... now I regret not saving the information posted for my "future" reference. It was the article that made me buy the above parts... among other cooling upgrades.

Until today, I have not had any issues with the "updated" water pump modification on my M119.960 :driving:... the reason I posted the question above, was that I just wanted to buy a set just in case that I would be needing it in the future ... "PREPPER" LOL :LOL::LOL:

Best regards Gentlemen :)

Hello Gentlemen,
I just remembered another critical information regarding the M119 water pumps ... if I remember correctly, the impellers of the water pumps are also critical in a sense, as there were (at that time) water pumps that came with either the steel and the cast iron types.

There was a picture posted (at that time) wherein the cast iron impeller was "badly corroded", making me choose the one with the steel impeller. to prevent corrosion of the steel impeller, it is always best to use the MB OE (or equivalent) coolant taking note of the mixing proportions (50-50).

I hope this information helps.

Best regards
