Serpentine Belt length for m119 with Air Pump delete pulley?

Hi all, I currently had a new 2465mm 8PK belt fitted to my 1992 500E.

However, when fitting the new Air Pump delete pulley the existing belt is too long by something like 75mm maybe more.

I have tried EPC but cannot find any more info on belt lengths for the m119 other than 2x 8PK belt sizes which are the same 2465mm long. (With & without A/C)

I did find this link-

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/87294-serpentine-belt-size-m119-engine-without-air-pump.html

But I do not think the belt will be a full 289mm shorter. (2176 listed but for a 119.96) My engine is an 119.974

Can anyone advise on the belt length I need for a 119.974 with Air Pump delete? Or do I need to measure it myself and go try another belt since this configeration does not exist as such?

I found a papercopy in my archives from DaimlerAG with Poly V-belt lengths and running diagrams. You're right, it says 2460 mm in both cases, so check your belt routing again.

Later models with 6-rib belt use 2535 mm and can be run on the inner 6 slots on the pulleys in case some of the rotating equipment has the early 8 slot pulley. The M119.960 use a 2523 mm 6-rib belt, so that may be an option, it depends on the range on the belt tensioner.

Thanks for the reply Arnt-
However I just realised that I was more than a bit silly!

I was doing 3 things at once when checking the belt this evening so I was distracted and did not route the belt correctly. I went out to look at it again when I had more time and now the belt is routed correctly the 2465 one fits fine. I just assumed the worse as I had a guest and no time to think properly.

More haste, less speed!

Belt fitted now, ready to fire up tomorrow night all being well

Joe,

I posted with my mobilephone last night, a cumbersome thing for that purpose, and when reading the post today it sounded contradictory for your actual request, sorry. I guess the "More haste – Less speed" kicked in for me as well...... I just meant to give a brief info about some of the Poly V-belts (I've updated that post now).

I've enclosed that Daimler datasheet, both the pdf. file and converted to images as well for a quicker lookup.
