Simple blink codes on 92 500E

Quick question: came home from a long drive, then went to clean the car later in the day and when I pulled it out got a CEL. Don't own any scan tools so just went to the blink module on the right side of the engine bay, just ahead of the firewall, and got a 5 'blink' code and a 6 'blink' code. I can't find anything saying what these codes are - the only thing I can find about these 'blink' codes is on pages 18 and 19 of the document gsxr posted, but at the top that says 'all 124 models except 124.034 and .036' - ie not us. Is that only there because most non-CA cars didn't have this blink module? My car is a lifetime California one.

FWIW, these codes indicate that the outside air temp sesnor is interrupt and evap temp sensor is short circuited. Also could be a wiring issue.

Page 18 and 19 shows codes for the climate control module, not the Diagnostic Module (DM). The bottom of page 1 explains that the built-in reader shows DM codes only (page 25).

DM codes 5 and 6 are EGR inop and idle speed control inop, respectively. Check all vacuum hoses for the EGR issue, the idle speed could be an ETA issue. You'll need codes from other modules to figure out what's up with the idle speed control (possibly ETA / E-GAS related).

Understood, I'll take a look at this. The issue has actually only started to present itself recently, as the car has a very slightly lumpy idle - I can notice it, but the RPM gauge does not move erraticly or higher than what you would expect. Does this sound like the issue you were describing? Sorry for the delay in response and change in account - long story.

A slightly rough idle can be a number of things, but the #1 culprit is usually engine mounts. If they are old or original... time to measure the air gap between oil pan & frame, to see if the mounts have collapsed. Search the forum for more details.

If the idle is dead smooth on a cold start and when engine temps are below ~60C, and the rough idle is only when fully hot, there's a faint chance than opening up the spark plug gap from 0.8mm to 1.0-1.1mm may help. Search for more on that as well...
