Do you have OCD? Are you absurdly meticulous? I'm not. But I fear being judged by those that are. And by "are" I mean @captruff or @600Eric. Ok maybe I secretly admire them. But then again, I treat microfiber towels as re-use items, not one time use disposable items.
Anyways, you may have noticed that bottom edge of your rear bumper has a slight bow to it. And by "slight," what I mean is that no one, not even you, had visually noticed the bow. But for some ridiculous reason you took a straightedge to the bottom edge, and that's when you noticed that the middle part of the bumper, right below the license plate, has a slight bow. A few single digit millimeters out-of-straight.
It is possible that during the course of your car's life, its rear bumper has been defiled, molested by an impact of some sort. And perhaps Neanderthals were on hand to try to correct that impact. When I first bought my car, my rear bumper cover was structurally sound, but the paint at the bottom edge was cracked --- so I knew it had been molested. I had it re-shot with paint in Nov 2016. https://www.500eboard.co/forums/index.php?threads/owner-jlaa.9780/#post-142140
But this year, I noticed a bow. And so I corrected the bow.
You need to buy:
Mine had been molested before because my bracket was out-of-shape and the bolt was not original. All is now better in the land of w124.036 rear bumper covers.
