SOLD!!

I purchased this car last year with a bad transmission which I of course replaced. Then I got carried away replacing a bunch of parts and cleaned up the car to the best of my ability. Upgraded the older 15 hole wheels to the 1994 8 hole wheels with brand new Michelin Defender 195/65/15 tires. Current CA DMV fees up to date and paid to 01/26/2016. Car passes smog no problem

Yes, it has a lot of miles 256K, but it drives great and leaks no fluids. AC is ice cold This car is not Concours, but it is very respectable IMO

1993 300TE WHITE/PALOMINO (MBTEX)

VIN: WDBEA92E2PF248725

This car was not optioned with the third row jump seat.

A partial list of recent work done:

New Blower Motor and regulator

Replaced AC compressor

New upper shock tower mounts

Bilstein HD shocks

New Michelin Defender tires

Replaced steering wheel from a low mileage W124

New hood pad

New Serpentine belt

Bosch battery

The car is remarkably stock with no mods other than the Alpine head unit and the front Bilstein shocks. I have the Clean CA Title in hand Mileage is at 256K but you would not know by looking at or driving the car.

If buyer prefers the late model 94/95 hood with correct lights I will include at no extra charge, but I will need the pre face lift euro lights in exchange.

This car is a 1993 so it has the 3.2L M104 engine.

$4,800.00

I will 2nd that. I just drove this wagon again last weekend. You would swear someone swapped the cluster out with one that has at least 100K more miles than it really has on it. It is very clean and runs amazing. In fact it runs better than Jeff's daily driver wagon (and he will openly admit that). I don't think he has service records for it but it sure seems like it was well maintained by the prior owner(s).

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

Anyone that knows Jeff knows he definitely goes all out. Just the fact that this wagon is still in all together tells me he believes it is worth saving. If I didn't have two wagons already I would strongly consider this one.

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

Ken, you need another wagon, right? A little 147 ying to your existing 040 yang?

:D :D

I think Ken would be all over it IF it had a black interior!

There is no doubt about that. Jeff wipes out pressure washers (and Q-Tips) like nobody's business. In fact here is a picture of him in the midst of battle with this very car:

PS: That was actually my pressure washer that I used once to clean my patio furniture before Jeff snagged it one morning and ran off to the shop. Needless to say I knew it was never coming back...

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

Careful posting that picture, Eric. California Coalition of Self-Appointed Volunteer Water Police may have Jeff drawn and quartered for using a pressure washer these days!

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

I think Jeff can claim the photo was taken in 1993 :-)

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

Remember, this 93 wagon would be a great candidate for a 3.6 m104 transplant ! Why go through trouble of putting in a v8 when a 3.6 is a straight drop.

Oh yeah! The only issue is that the 3.6L has to be in it's power-band (high-revs). Expect 12-16 MPG with a 2.65 diff when EXTRACTING in the city.

A 400E V8 would offer all that torque (and a little more) down-low, and the 500E V8, watch out . . .

BTW: do you have an AMG M104 3.6L for sale . . .

:-) neil

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

If the 3.6L offers more low-end torque than the 3.2L, it would be a huge improvement. The 3.2 is pretty lethargic with the AC running in the summer. I can't imagine driving a wagon with the anemic M103.

I have both a 3.2L and a 3.6L with the same tranny and diffs. At partial throttle the 3.2L has more initial low-down torque. At 3800 RPM, the 3.6L takes off. You really can't be afraid to rev the 3.6L to get her to sing/get on the cam . . .

Ouch. Really? I was hoping the ~15% displacement increase would boost torque off idle, and in the 2k-3k range where it spends most of the time around town.

12-16mpg is a bummer, the 4.2L V8 would likely provide more power with better economy, shame it's so difficult to convert to M119! Of course, if I ever did an M119 conversion, I'd probably go with a 5.0L since I've got a couple spares laying around collecting dust...

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

I own two 3.6 M104's, but NONE are for sale.
The mods needed to get an effective 3.6 M104 are not nearly as cumbersome as those need to transplant a V8.

Not saying I wouldn't enjoy a V8 transplant, but my first choice would not be in a wagon anyway.

What's the lowest mileage 5.0 engine you have? Is it for sale?

They're around 160kmi. Not for sale at the moment though.

If you are engine shopping, I wouldn't get hung up on mileage. I'd rather have a sludge-free M119 with 300kmi than one that looks like the infamous "Hollyweird" engine with 100kmi, but that's just me. M119's last almost forever.

This is 100% on the mark. You definitely need a heavy foot to make the 3.6 engine come alive.

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

bump to the top

I have not been actively marketing this car, but it is taking up room and it kills me to pay insurance for a car I do not drive.

PRICE REDUCTION FROM $4,800.00 TO $3,800.00

This car is quite remarkable as far as condition. No, it is not in overall better condition than my personal 1995 wagon, but I will let anyone drive both cars side by side and this car drives better than my 1995 wagon.

I have well over $5K into this car. I just updated headlights to Bosch euros

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

I'll vouch this car drives fast and stops well. Great DD or dog hauler if needed.

Re: fs - 1993 E320 Wagon

Although I have raised an eyebrow with a number of cars captruff has come home with he really found a diamond in the rough with this one. After doing his thing which usually entails about the equivalent of a pallet of microfibers and q-tips a hell of a car emerged. Then on top of that take how well it starts, runs, etc. and it makes one shake their head (in a good way). He will probably get mad at me for saying this but I actually don't want to see this car go as it is a great shop car. Plenty of room to haul around stuff, the A/C blows ice cold and anytime I drive it I don't think twice that it is going to strand me somewhere. All that said if someone needs or is even tossing around the idea of buying a wagon they should seriously consider this car.
