The tool pictured is one of the most important and useful tools in my entire inventory.
It is a Snap-On brand keychain, made out of a 1/4" drive socket. It allows the keys to be separated into two pieces (for example, when I'm moving cars in and around the shop and driveway) and holds plenty of keys. The keychain was manufactured by using the two ends of a 1/4" drive universal socket, plugging them into each other, and putting rings through the roll pin holes. For those of you who have been around for a while, local Snap-On distributors were passing them out for free as an advertising gimmick for a while...
They hold the keys very securely when the male end of the socket is inserted into the female receptacle.
I obtained mine from a local Snap-On dealer in Portland, Oregon about 10 years ago. If you can get your hands on one of these babies, it is worth the time & effort.
Cheers,
Gerry
P.S. My keychain, left to right ....
LEFT SIDE: 1989 560SEC (red dot), 1994 E500
RIGHT SIDE: 1995 E320T, 1987 560SL (red dot), 2002 Honda FSC600, house+werkstatt keys, mailbox key
